As can be seen in following video, Jerome Kaino has been banned for 4 weeks following a much disputed shoulder charge on Jamie Roberts. Roberts failed concussion protocol. The ban was reduced from 6 weeks due to good behaviour during the hearing.
Looks like its back to old school around the knees tackles else your in trouble .If that were the other way round I would still say 1 week at the most if at all. but you need to have your arms in an almost exaggerated out in front position and hit at pretty much waist high .Even then you can still get done . .
But the jury is out so theres an end to it I guess.Bugger all that whining can do about it.
There's already talk about this incident being used to support the drive to eliminate head on tackles. I don't like where this is going. We'll end up with flag rugby, where one may be banned for the barbaric act of impeding an opponents shadow.
Hear hear BB,by all means dangerous tackles are to be punished but soon we will be as wussy as the soccer prats.
Like the Bizzie tackle on DC at first I thought " yeah way late ,dangerous offside " on closer inspection once the red mist clears ,a good hard hit not worthy of any sort of penalty.
My guess is it's because in the split second before the hit, his arm is still dropped and he is leading with the shoulder into the tackle. What the other arm is doing doesn't matter.
He had ample time to get his leading arm where it should have been, which was at least somewhere beyond vertical.
The rules are clear.

This castration of sports is becoming ridiculous. A collision sport can never be safe. What next? Tennis balls being made of foam, because it might hit someone in the face? It isn't just rugby that's becoming soft, the Western world is becoming soft. Something which affects gene expression.
