You've got to laugh. This tour was supposed to be vindication of José and Crutch, as well as some of the mythical creatures that inhabit Bok rugby, but an unexpected figure who often lurks in the minds of the plastics came into full view: Morné Steyn. A couple of days before the test, Herr Unteromlett stated in no uncertain terms that Morné was the biggest loser in world rugby. In the aftermath of it all, José and Crutch have been exposed and the saviour was our 37 year old veteran who won the second Lion's tour of his career with his cool composure. How this must sting. Already the Lügnerin Times is hard at work spinning a narrative to conceal this horrible tragedy. Here are the plain facts:

  1. Under 21 World Cup Champion
  2. Super Rugby Champion (x3)
  3. Currie Cup Champion (x2)
  4. Top 14 Champion
  5. Lions Tour Champion (x2)
  6. European Challenge Cup Champion
Currently sits at 11.07 points per test, comfortably third behind Naas (28 tests) and Jannie De Beer (13 tests). To maintain that output over 67 tests is phenomenal. He also has a greater try ratio than Pollard, Lambie, Jantjies, Honiball, Pretorius, Butch and Naas. The greatest winner in South African rugby. Ever.

What are you talking about BSter - your list is  as unclear as mud.   Are you talking about the complete failure at flyhalf called Morne Steyn?    Tht must be it - and he always was and still is a total flyhalf failure. His only positive was kicking at goal and his negatives were legion.   To name a few;-

*   Hopeless and aimless out-of- hand kicking  representing purely possession hand-overs

*   Hopeless  defense

*   Total  inability to co-ordinate backline functioning and attacks.

What  Top 14 victory are you talking about?    What Champions Cup victory are you referring to?    As far as is evident Morne Steyn became the bench flyhalf for Stade Francais and did not contribute much to the performances of the club.    Matter of fact the owner got rid of the liability when he fired Meyer as coach.    Between the two - Meyer and Morne - they canme perilously close to destroying the club through gross  incompetence..
