Blitzbokke speedster Seabelo Senatla is set to make his Currie Cup debut for Western Province in the Currie Cup opener next weekend.
That is the word from WP's coach Allister Coetzee, who used Senatla, who returned recently from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow where he won a gold medal as part of South Africa's Sevens team, as a replacement in some matches during the latter stages of the Stormers' Super Rugby campaign.
And with Gio Aplon's recent departure to Top 14 outfit Grenoble Coetzee believes Senatla could start on the wing when his side kick off their Currie Cup campaign in Port Elizabeth against the Eastern Province Kings a t the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on August 8.
"His pace is a huge asset and we saw what he is capable of when there's little bit of space," Coetzee told <i>Die Burger</i>.
He is familiar with our structures after playing for us in Super Rugby, so he'll easily fit into the team with a week's training left before the first game."

JW...Unlikely because he has represented Kenya at test level.LOL but hey,in Africa anything is possible bwahahahahahahahahahah!!!

Hi ForeverArizona: you seem in better spirits these days. Good to read your posts.
Yeah, there was some wired thing with the Beast & his citizenship, Beeno knows such things don't happen in NZ But if this latest & greatest find has played for Kenya at test level that's a hard one to get around. Anyway he would have a lot to prove before he could be considered for a Bok selection.
So you are optimistic about the Stormers again for next year Beeno?
I guess they have some serious talent & if they get the coaching right they should be at least in the middle of the table rather than fighting their way off the bottom. They had a few lucky games against kiwi teams but showed class against the bulls & the weeee sharks (thanks boys), lol

@FA. Correct. Everything is possible but I doubt if playing for SA would fly in this case. That is an IRB ruling that will be stopping him.
@JW, the issue with Beast was a political one, by all accounts. Beast has been playing for SA and did qualify in terms of IRB rules. The SA Govt, however, just decided that he cannot play anymore because they had a sudden urge to exclude non-SA citizens from representing SA. Normally when such a rule is implemented by a country they allow those already in the system a bit of leeway. Not in SA though. Coincidently, it is because of that ruling that Brian Mujati is stuffed. He is a Zimbabwean who has represented SA and is obviously barred from representing another country. He cannot play for SA either and he cannot just go back and get citizenship either because he will have to comply with the minimum residency periods first before he can apply for citizenship.
These two were also not the first non-SA Springboks. Ray Mordt and David Smith were Rhodesians when they first played for the Boks in the early 80s.

Lets get this straight - there is no way that Ndayara can ever be considered to play for the Springboks - he has played for Kenya and that is the end of that one.
I think that there really is opportunities here for a drastic improvement in teh WP backline. They can play the following backline and it would add real calue insofar as their CC campaign is concerned - taking into account that it is extremely unlikely that De Villiers and De Allende would be available for selection: -
15 Taute, 14 Senatla, 13 Ndayara, 12 Howard, 11 Van Wyk, 10 Coleman, 9 Groom
I would leave out De Jonmgh - as his defense is really a nightmare and he really cannot create good attacking options - he is a finisher, not a creator.
