One interesting comment was that in 2003 I was forced into a fusion operation and I told that I was in agony and told the best specialist in SA a doctor still on contract with SA Rugby - a dr Joubert opeating in the Umhlanga hospital, After the operation I was frced into wearing a specially designed neck brace. He old mehow he was used by SARU o reat peple with neck problems and he aso mentioned about rominent pla y es he oprated on and how he worried about Springboks returning to play rugby after surgery,

It still seems to be the situation when it comes players like Kitshoff at present. The specialist was about 32 years old at he time of my operation and the operation was delayed because he was guess lecturer at Yale University, Be it as it may I think that the specialist involved in teh Kitshoff case is of the same opinion as the one who operated on me.
