SA Rugby is reportedly considering a top New Zealand coach to replace Allister Coetzee, with the Chiefs' Dave Rennie identified as a strong candidate.

According to Rapport, work has already begun behind the scenes to look at possible candidates to replace Coetzee after the Boks finished the year with a shocking 33% win record.

Coetzee is set to face a performance appraisal by a sub-committee of SA Rugby, and will know after 13 December whether or not he will remain in the top job.

Should SA Rugby opt to fire Coetzee, Rapport suggests they would need to turn to broadcast partner SuperSport to provide financial assistance in order to buy Coetzee out of the remaining three years of his contract.

Rennie, who led the Chiefs to the Super Rugby title in 2012 and 2013, is believed to have strong support at the highest level of SA Rugby. Other names that have been thrown into the hat again are Rassie Erasmus and Jake White.

However, a potential stumbling block to any consideration to remove Coetzee from his post – speculated to be R13m – is also believed to be the fact that SA Rugby is in a dire financial situation, with the governing body reported to be as much as R19m in the red.

They need to buy Coetzee out of his contact ASAP. He will run the Boks into the ground and destroy them. SARU need to act quickly and get money to save the Boks from dying. If they are making no profit now- it will get worse.
The unfortunate truth is that most of the best coaches are from New Zealand. We have useless coaches like Gary Gold, Stick, Toetsie- and insert "Former donkey player now coach"
We need a coach that understand the breakdown- and using the backline.

A different week, a different story as speculation mounts about the future of Coetzee(it's a shame it doesn't also include the speculation around SARU).
IOL ran a story about Coetzee being maintained but that his SARU nominated selectors would be thrown under a bus. He would then be given the right to appoint his own assistants. Not exactly the same but nevertheless close enough to be shifting the chairs on the Titanic.
It would be a reflection on SARU if Coetzee is maintained as national coach.

 Ya Den
Agree boet
Another week, another story

Firstly, I reckon Andre Markgraaf would be better than Coetzee at this juncture!
However I'm not sure Mr Rennie would be the answer.

Does he understand the ethos and complexities behind SARUGBY? Methinks not!

We need a local coach with some international backroom personnel.  Maybe Rennie would fit in well as an assistant? I dont know him well enough to make that judgement.

Anyway, for now it seems like that Indaba was a bit of a joke, in an attempt to deflect away from Coetzee's shortcomings.
SARU need to be punished for picking Coetzee!
He should get his full 13 million!
I blame SARU 90% and AND 10%.

I agree Chippo, Coetzee can only be blamed for being stupid enough to believe he has what it takes.  He overstepped the line where confidence goes into arrogance.
SARU are a bunch of numbnuts!
