i have a question about a possible knock on play and was wondering if anyone can help me out.
francis sailis 2nd try in the 19th min against the rebels, came after ranger in the process of getting tackled offloaded the ball to saili who was supporting.
saili tried to catch the ball but clearly didnt and it touched his fingertips as it fell to the ground.
before it touched the ground though, siali manged to kick it ahead of him and eventually chase it and score a try.
IMO that was a try, as the ball didnt touch the ground at all, a fact the replay showed clearly, but both jeff wilson & sumo were adamant that it shouldnt have been a try as saili had no control of the ball at any stage before kicking.
i looked it up, and there was nothing clear on this matter except that a knock on is only a knock on if the ball goes forwad from a player and either touches the ground or touches the opposition.
sumo and wilson seemed very sure of themseleves though and i was wondering if anyone here knows the offical ruling regarding this situation.
