Houwing raised this topic on the News24 website.   He said that Koch should be in the 23 squad for the test.

I am not surprised by his viewpoint.   Louw has been a poor scrummager this year in both the Super Rugby series and in the tests h played in.  He was so bad on Saturday that Mozart had to invent a reason for him being the only prop give away a scrumming penalty on Saturday and imn the other scrums he was anything but solid.

Koch cannot be worse than Louw has been recently - so it seems to be a logical suggestion by Houwing.

Mike you are speaking utter horse shit re Louw’s scrummaging - he is our best scrummaging tighthead by far

Louw is a lump of lard. Big but not powerful . Not much use outside the scum either.

Koch is just under 120kg but we don't know how his scrumming has progressed since leaving SA.

Saffex how good is he at scum time. Certainl y he was always very mobile tighthead.

Koch, mobile but can't scrum. Louw's 3 goal line scrums against NZ were epic, and the last scrum against the Wallabies the only one with right shoulder. Louw is our WC tighthead.

When Koch was in South Africa, there was nothing to suggest that he was worthy of being a top 3 tighthead.
He was solid, but does not offer more than the other players.
Not sure what happened with Thomas DuToit who got shipped back to the Sharks.

Louw was an "epic" in three scrums against the AB's - he was solid but being an epic is a gross misrepresentation of what actually happened.

He was substandard in all scrums against t he Aussies a week later and Mozart tried to find an excuse for the one in which he was penalized.

Is their any honesty in the Mozart assessments ever?   I have yet to find one honest assessment of any players he discussed.

Looking at the performance of Louw in Super Rugby and the tests this year  and even though I have not seen Koch playing this year I would think Koch cannot be worse than Louw was.   Taking that into account I think Koch should be on the bench on Saturday.

Well, Koch is responsible for the loss, so certainly not better than Louw.
