Both Kolbe and May have been praised at this WC for their 'electric pace'. But there have a few puzzling counter examples.

Firstly Kolbe was rather surprisingly caught by Moanga in the pool match, when one's instincts were that he was set to score. Even more unsettling was Fukuoka gassing Kolbe with a simple outside swerve.....way easier than Habana was gassed by the Zimbabwean Ngwenya in 07. But we hardly heard a peep about it, such is Kolbe's popularity.

Then there is the May incident with Scott Barrett.....looking at it again, I'm still shocked May wasn't able to find a gear to put Barrett away.....there was clear field ahead of him.

So on  Saturday when May faces Kolbe will either have a pace edge? My own guess is Cheslin who may not have great top end would win the 0 to 40 metres race and May would prevail once they are at pace, but based on the Barrett incident he seems a little slow to hit full pace. Perhaps because he is a rather long strider. Remember Sam Mussabini's  advice to Harold Abrahams....don't over stride!

But we have to believe May's top end is impressive, so I hope we don't see Kolbe trying to catch May from behind. Cheslin is a stepper.....most dangerous when he faces the defender rather than taking him side on. That suggests we might want to use him cutting in from the wing or obviously returning kicks.....ie doing the things he has done all WC.

Go Bokke!

Kolbe is Paulse minus the top gear. Great acceleration makes him difficult to pin down, but unlike Paulse, he cannot burst away once he turns on a dime. Kolbe is a great wing, but not all that useful in our setup. He jinks his way every so often opportunistically, but nothing constructive. In a better coached side, he'd be far more devastating.

May has been very impressive. England's back three have been lethal in general.

I remember Paulse hauling in Christian Cullen from behind once....he had serious top end.

May definitely had something wrong with his leg when Barrett chased him down. It would have been no contest otherwise. May eventually left the field limping I was surprised that Kolbe got caught that day can only think that with all the work he had done that day he might have just run out of gas

May was suffering from a dead leg, same as Farrel. Farrel however continued to run it off.

I'd  give May the edge in top end outright pace while Kolbe has the burst and acceleration of a 2 stroke.

Well at least our Dutchies have been in situ for 400 years. Most of you Poms are Frogs,Celts or frigging Norwegians by that logic. Hell even your Royal family is German.

Good question. May looked to be lacking something against NZ, his general chasing wasn't up to usual standard and then the failure to outrun Barrett of course.

As a pom, I'm worried about Kolbe but glad we're playing your best players. Will be a great battle between these two for sure.

It's foolish to raise the issue of the Afrikaaner (not Dutch, thats considered offensive; consult a history book to see why). Southern Africa was not a unified nation, thus the Afrikaaner, the white man in general, is very much part of the origins of South Africa. There have been quite a number of foreign born players, but it has never been a core contributor to any Springbok side.

England on the otherhand is a victim of the "Big Society". Multi-culturalism, to destroy the native culture so open borders may be freely implemented with little resistance. That, and the waves of immigrants seeking better futures in the UK - though many bring their bad lifestyles with them.

Interestingly, the earliest recorded inhabitants of Britain (which comes from Hebrew, meaning "Sons of the Covenant") were the Dodanim. Britain was originally called Dodan. The Dodanim being descendants of the Ionian tribe, from Ancient Greece. This could therefore make you like the Afrikaaners you singled out. Even worse, the immigration of the Danites throughout Europe more than two-and-a-half thousand years ago. So we have Greeks, Israelites, Romans, Scythians, Romanians, Scandinavians. All over a millenia ago.

So, the moral of the story is this: Get your facts straight before you open your mouth.

I got over the "Dutchie" and "Rockspider" slurs 20 years ago...it's just words...in fackt even "Yarpie" doesn't bother me either...but it is considered ethnic slurs.

Rosie is a regular poster posing as a Pom...trolling like an amateur...small things...
