This kid is awesome, another one of those freakishly strong players in the Bismark mould. Drives people back in the tackle and always breaks that first tackle. He and Marcel Coetzee are our best loosies
Kolisi has Bok written all over him
I f Schalk doesnt come back he, Vermuelen and Elstadt will do us proud. However Deon Fourie was probaly better value than Kolisi.Fourie also still young was outstanding.
he has but with the huge amount of other loosies in the mix i fear he might not get the amount of game time he needs.
we will see how things pan out but he is really one of the finds of the season in my view
Carpermuncher Kolisi is very young so we will have to see. At the moment he would be outgunned by the big boys as snaspter should know but doesnt. Would not like to see him playing for Boks against NZ now.
Snapster please wise up!
Have to agree......not ready.
Saffex is his normal self in this case. Wants to move Coetzee to 89 to make way for Kolisi. I believe that Kolisi is very good - but he whould stay on Super 15 level for the next year or so - not ready to be playing on international level - but the signs are good.
Playing him at this stage on international level could stuff up his whole future career - so let him stay with the Stormers and continue to work his way up. The future looks bright for him - but is not here yet..
Kolisi is our second best loosie after Coetzee, makes sense to move Coetzee to 8, where he played at school and U20 level - its not brain science
I love it. For years I have been telling you Spies is useless. It's finally penetrated your brain that I'm right. But rather than simply admitting we have to replace Spies......the logic is we have to return Coetzee to where he played at school. Dave you are a tonic.
Moz where did I mention dropping Spies........I'm talking the future here.......and what exactly is the issue with moving Coetzee to 8 where he played at school AND U20 level......makes perfect sense to me, what bit of this logic are you struggling with?
Saffex you are spot on.
That is about as close as he will get to wearing the green and gold.
Unfortunately for him many of the present loose forwards playing S15 are all knocking on the door and once the injured players return it will be even more difficult for him.
Saffex
You mentioned repeatedly that Coetzee should be moved to 8 - that means dropping Spies. Nothing wrong with that - he deserves to be dropped asap. However, I do believe that Coetzee is the ideal loosie that could potentially play at 8 - but we have other candidates for that position as well and I would never play him there purely for the reason to make way for Kolisi's selection.
For the next year at least my pick for loosies would be Coetzee, Alberts and Vermeulen - with Kolisi on the bench - but noweher in the starting line up. Please note that I still believe - like Meyer - that Brussow is not in the picture - we do not need a penalty machine..
Disagree Mike, Kolisi and Coetzee are our best loosies and therefore as coach I would be looking to include both of them. Kolisi is definately better than Vermeulen. Dont get me wrong, I rate Vermeulen but Kolisi is better. Brussouw is a class act and will return to the Boks
Saffex
Want to lay a bet on that one - I think that Brussow might get a squad chance on the overseas legs of the 4-Nations - but he will NOT be in the starting line up or the bench - he just gives away too many penalties. What about Alberts? Want to move him to loak???
Don't get me wrong - I rate Kolisi highly - but he is not there yet. It would be better to wait another year on Super 15 before he gets into the team. He still has a lot to learb about the game and to play him prematurely coul ruib his playing career.
No way is Alberts a lock. I rate him but dont like the way he goes awol at times. He is in good form now, so if he maintains that, then he remains in the picture.
Wrong Brussouw has taken on board the issues regarding his penalty count and I dont think he has conceded one in a number of games now. The guy is a class act and will be back.
Kolisi is ready for test rugby end of
Saffex
Is there something amiss with British TV or which games were you watching? In the last three S15 games Brussow gave away five penalties. Go and watch the replays and you will notice that.
i will take take penalties any time of the day if i know that my fetcher at least slows down the opposing teams ball and that he protects my own attacking ball. we got away with murder against the poms with our ruck ball. we wont be so lucky against the AB and wallies.
even if brussow gives away 4 penalties i wont mind seeing that i know at least i wont cough up 2 or 3 trys that the attackiing scored from quick ruck ball. a fecther is a attacking and defensive weapon. not one person not even HM or rassie can convice me that our current forwards can oppose the likes of mcheat pocock or matt todd come ruck time. we will need to commit more fowards to the ruck to counter ruck them and that i hamper our attack and defence seeing that there is less players involved in the ruck than in the line itself. his skillset will only free up our ball carriers to do what they do best...and that is to run with the ball
I agree with the fact that Kolisi is a very talented kid, but as many have said, he needs more time to establish himself. Also, you can't just include him in the Springbok mix sommer net, there are some seriously talented loosies for him to compete with.
As I keep saying he is our second best loosie after Coetzee
