Koster joins Louw in Bath

 Oct 24,2012

Written by: SARugby.com Editor

English Premiership club Bath have comfirmed the arrival of Stormers and Western Province loose forward Nick Koster.

23-year-old Koster first made his mark on the international scene when Nick Mallett picked him for the Barbarians side to play Australia at Wembley at the tender ag of 19.

He made his Super 14 debut in 2009 on the wing, but has since reverted to his traditional position in the back row, where he has represented Western Province since the 2008 season.

At 6ft 4in, Koster is an imposing figure and has represented South Africa at all age group levels and joins former Stormers team-mate Francois Louw in Bath's talented back row.

"Nick is a very exciting young player and we are delighted that he has agreed to move to Bath," said Bath Head Coach and former Spring assistant coach Gary Gold.

"He is a hard-working, incredibly motivated guy, and we are sure he will fit in with the Club ethos we are developing. We have a very talented and competitive back row at present, and Nick knows he will have to fight for his place, but he is up for the challenge and we can't wait to see the results."

"We'd like to thank Western Province for their co-operation in allowing Nick to join us, and we look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with them. Hopefully it will allow players to potentially spend time with the other club as and when the opportunity should arise."

This guy spent most of the time injured on the sidelines. Now he has dumped WP for bath, how loyal. His bills for the physio are probably higher than his wages.

Why do the English, French and Japanese need to keep taking players from other countrres. Ok maybe the Japanese as the average weight is about 55kg except for the sumu wrestlers.

Well Beeno, you will not be able to say that if WP lose to the Sharks that it was not because Koster wasnt playing for them...

now now Chippo, you can allways fly over to Bath for the end of the year tour

It is better than joining Luke Watson in Bath 2 years ago, how sickening.

Whateer you say - Koster is a talented player and hsi move to bath is probably he best career move he can make.   When all the injured players are back - he is unlikely to get many chances in the Stormers and WP teams and that would mean that th best he could hope for is a bench selection.

If he plays well - he could even end up in the English team - so good luck to him.   Hope his injury problems are over and he can get on with his career.

what is up with wp keeping there players. they sign a bunch and release them at a equal speed.

well good luck to him. they will more than likely move him to wing as he does have some real pace and moving him to flank will be a massive waste

Wha ti ssaying he wont be back for the Super 15? I didnt see anything in the article saying it wasa permanent move. If h eis going over simply t oget in some rugby after a long layoff all well and good. Louw must also come back and stop wasting his time in a a second rate competition.

Louw surely has or is going to get a Bok contract. So come home Francois! Ditto Nick get some form going and we will see you soon. Quinton by 2014 we also want you back.

Sadie and JJ you can stay away hahahahhaha - JJ off to the queens!! Man these guys should never have left WP where they were playing in good company and going places. Ruined by the bulle! Now we have found more than able replacements.

I hear JJ is not going to queens which is good news for him as the bulle are a bit better than the queens.
