i find mikeys crusade against frans to be hilarious, LMAO,

the frans vs beale battle will be prettyu awesome to watch next week, both are amazing players with two polar opposite skill sets.

beale is playing 12 like an all out attacking flyhalf, a playmaker of the highest order who can efficently use his skill, speed and vision to set up his teammates.

steyn on the other hand is from the mould of what i consider to be the modern day flyhalf, a punishing 12 who 99 times out of 100 gets over the advantage line using his power, cna suck in multiple defenders which along with his classy distribution skills creates opportunities.

i dont think steyns defence is bad at all, i think hes a decent defender who has the anility to hurt the attack cos hes a typical big bruising saffa.
beales defence is questionable, its not bad and is acceptable for spXV level and higher, but its not anything which stands out.

no matter what its going to be a killer match and i cant wait, :o)

Mike - i would be more worried about Beale's ability to handle a storming Steyn. I fully expect Beale to beat Steyn at least a couple of times though as he is just that good.

I do not think the Waratahs  would be too scared of a storming Steyn.   His ball carries this year was rather ineffective with minimal territory gain and a tendency to lose possession whilst being tackled or giving away penalties.
As a Shark supporter I am seriously worried by Steyn's inability to perform as a 12 should.   What is particularly worrying is his higher than acceptable missed tackle ratio and the ease with which Harris beat him twice in the Reds game without Steyn even attempting tackles .
   

 Ol' Mike I like your avatar...I also love cricket very much...I was a shit rugby player but a mediocre cricketer...actually bowled out Andre Bruyns, Proccy and Daryl Bestall out in my insignificant minor sporting life but as much as I like you you attacks on Willem Alberts and Francois Steyn simply piss me off...Jake (our God given answer to SA rugby puts huge weight on them)...knows more about player utilisation and strength...will you announce your error when these outstanding players become heros in England in 2015....Frans will be in the side and Willem will too ...the best ball carrier on UK fields,

 Gota agree with Saffex here..Its getting ridiculous now Mike.Fuck sakes bru you are talking about the world class Steyn here. A man who achieved more at under 20 years of age than Beale has to date.
Steyn is not fucken Mitch Inman or Bryce Hegarty. No disrespect to those two but they are hardly world class players. The Sharks are not the Rebels either. 
Give it up about Frans Steyn..No one seems to share your hatred for him.Does top of the log mean nothing to you? Let me tell you now, Beale is a great attacking mind but he will certainly not find the space against the Sharks, Brumbies (as we saw), Chiefs and the likes that he will against the Rebels and Force. Not saying he cant produce the goods but he will be made to work damn hard for it. Expect Beale to go awol in Durban and Fransi to show him what it takes to be a test quality 12.
I am glad Beale is on cloud 9 and thinks rugby is so easy at 12..Now lets hope the Aussie coach plays him there in the RC..Will love to see him try that shit against the AB's and Boks..

 PS Mike..You did see the game where the Force took the Rebels for 32 points in a half?? Hardly the defensive outfit to base any discussion around..The likely event of Beale's inside break/pass against the sharks will mean running into Frans, Lambie and about 3 hungry forwards!

 I get it Frans has always been overrated, acheivements? Its a team sport. Great at super rugby lvl but kak at test lvl, particularly againgst the abs, ever since going to Europe hes sucked.

I hate no players - and I look at achievements on the field of play - nothing more, nothing less.   I was more than happy to see Steyn in the Springbok team after his return in 2012 from France.  I was not happy at all to see -
*   how he performed in the 2012 tests before injury;*   his performances in Super 15 in 2013;*   his performances in the last three games in Super 15 this year.
I actually thought that he had a serious overweight problem in 2012 and 2013 - that being the cause of his performance deficiencies.   White apparently succeeded where Plumtree failed - namely to get his weight down to 106 kgs.  However, despite that there seems to be a lingering problem - namely his deficient speed as a backline player.   That remains to my mind the reason why - despite his success in goal kicking thus far this year his performances have been sub-par.   When I point out what I sincerely believe is bit up to standard 0 nobody seems to agree with me - all pointing out how good he is and has been in the past without any regard to his latest performances.
If people can honestly say he did better this year than what I saw in his performances and indicate why and where I am wrong - then I would accept it. However, other than his goal kicking, nobody really gave any examples of outstanding plays by him.
As to Willem Alberts - sure he has a few positives in ball carrying in traffic -but his overall performances are limited to a two functions as a loosie - namely ball carries in traffic and defense.   His best game over the last year was against the French - but even in that game he missed 30%  of all attempted tackles.  For the rest he played a minimum roll in line outs, he played no roll in breakdown ball protection and recovery and his ball handling skills varies from non-existent to poor - he never passes balls and he cannot participate in any ball carries linking up with the back line.  Some people write songs about his ball carries and his defense - I would like to see an all-round performance undertaking all the functions of a loosie before I am convinced that he meets all requirements.   
If members prove me wrong about actual performances on the field of play I will be more than happy to accept it - but I am afraid they never do and keep on making general statements without actual examples of where I am wrong.
Now back to the game next Saturday.   I think the Waratahs can be beaten up front - there forwards are not really up to standard.  However, they have an excellent backline - that was proven in all games they played this year.   So the backline defense of the Sharks must be tops - and there were gaps this year in that respect. T he Sharks better ensure that the Waratahs do not get good balls from their forwards and above all else make sure they do not kick balls away aimlessly - they will be punished if the latter happens.
