Hahahaha,

Just shows you how the blacks are turning on their own.

https://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/Springboks/kolisis-madiba-comments-land-him-in-hot-water-20190108

Kolisi made a comment that players should be selected on merit and referenced Madiba, but in truth, he is not there on merit alone. Good player and has been very consistent, but lacks a bit at international level.

But it is strange how his own folk turns on him. It is a shame that the blacks believe its their right to redress the wrongs of the past.

Apartheid was only in effect for 25 years, before that it was separate colonies and countries. SA only became a country in 1903 after the Brittish over throw the Boer states.

Somebody need to give the blacks a proper history lesson.

I would imagine that the richest people in South Africa are black, so they are getting the same opportunity as the richest white people. The richest are always a minority, which will go to the best schools- and get the best coaching and opportunities.
White people are to blame for everything- even though many/most of the richest people in South Africa are black. Many jobs in South Africa are reserved for black people only- so they actually have it easier due to the colour of their skin.

When I was in school black people had the same opportunity to play rugby- albeit it certainly was "not" a top school- this was over 20 years ago. Anyone could play rugby in school, but more black people still played football. However, the majority of people are black, so this is not an issue - as there should be enough depth for black players.
Sure the townships have less opportunity- but the poorest schools across the world have the least opportunity. That is part of the package of being poor. In third world counties, the poorer are just even poorer.
So how long does the past have to be redressed for?
Africans rarely seem to mention parenting as a factor as a cause of social problems, or their political and economic corruption problems. Child abandonment, single parents and having dozens of children is commonplace. Many kids have not met their parents or only one of them. This is the third world situation- and nowhere is it worse than in Africa.

30 years after Apartheid,  of there, if there is some argument for historical imbalance it is the ownership of farmland- but that is a minority of white people. A "few" white people own farms- but that is certainly not the majority of white people. It is unclear how much farmland is owned by whom, as non of the sources seem reliable. This will soon also not be an issue as repossession of land is scheduled to happen, where land will be allocated to black people (not black farmers mind you, just some political stooges that will run the farms into the ground).

With regards to Kolisi, I do respect his comments- and I agree with him. I do not see him as a quota because he has had some very good games for the Boks. He is not specialist fetcher- but SA rarely has specialist fetchers. I do not have a problem with him being the Springbok captain, especially with the World Cup being in Japan where the fast conditions should suit his style of play.
When he said he went to a "white" school- he probably should have said he went to a privileged school- because I am sure some of the schools that white people are going to are crap- especially now.

Kolisi is just saying what a lot of us have been saying for years so instead of dumping on him, we should rather applaud his courage.
He didn't select himself as player and captain so to call him Kwotalisi when he's actually showing a lot of guts is unfair. .

Wow!! I at first thought that Kolisi was aware that he's no more than a quota ... and that he was in it for the money.

Turns out he believes all the lies of being a merit selection.

He' just delusional.

Sadly guts alone won't win many matches ... we need talent ... we need competence ... we need the best man for the job.

He is not it. Not s captain and not as a player.

The best thing he can do for SA rugby is to resign as captain and to no longer make himself eligible for Bok selection.

He won't though. He prefers to live in his fantasy world, all the while believing that he's making a positive difference.

Deluded fool.

For once I actually fully agree with Piss Mint

I think it takes balls to say something like this in our day and age, especially as the Springbok captain.

He should be applauded for his brutal honesty, and not be lambasted

Imagine for once what it must feel like as a black player in SA, when you are chosen to play for your country, and your first thought is always, are they doing this to meet their required quota or am I chosen on merit?

CC, your post just smacks of racism, no surprise there

Remember how you rated Rabada so poorly and said he was just another quota player...... and I immediately informed you that he would prove you wrong, and you laughed at me, and then he got 6 wickets in that very next game.

The same Rabada who is now the world's number  bowler

You are joke, albeit a racist one

I did not want to start a thread  this. issue,   Lets face facts there are lots of members on site who are not always fair in dealing with issues and whatever Kolisi said about it would be attacked by most of our members.

I also read what some on the social media said and it was clear that it was not popular with the racialists and we are now finding that the racial antagonist groups are fighting on the same side.

Let face facts - Kolisi made some very pertinent comments about his school where a basis for rugby as a game was laid - that remains the main reason why the players coming through most of the schools are not producing sportsmen of quality - the same applies to soccer as well.   They are not properly coached on school level and they do not follow healthy diets.

That has been my hobby-horse for many years.   Some of the countries like China and Russia has sport as a subject in schools and unless pupils do not pass in their code of sport they fail and are not allowed to enter higher education institutions.   Our Government should years ago have started a similar process,    We should have sport schools in every province to cater for sport development - but at present nothing is done.   That is where the process should start.

They have not yet learnt why some schools produce excellent sportsmen under specialist conditions - while others fail miserably.   If you go through both the rugby and cricket teams you would find that virtually all Springbok players and Protea cricketers went to schools where sport development is funded privately and regarded as of major importance in their curriculums

I think Kolisi cannot be regarded as a racialist - he is married to a White lady and  he  realizes  that racialism is not the answer.   I think if the Government listens to him in what he is saying  and implement his ideas we would see major sport developments in all codes of sport - we need it virtually totally in soccer and certainly in other codes of sport.

What Kolisi said is true, anyway you look at it

If he had stayed at his old school and not gone to Grey, he would never be in the position that he is now...period, and he is just being brutally honest about that.

His old school would never have given him the benefits, training, education that he received from Grey...never.

I blame the government for that, because their focus on schooling in this country is highlighted every year by the pathetically low matric pass rate.

He is stating facts, and you cannot argue with them

Only when these rural and lesser equipped schools have been properly assisted by the government, with the proper running of these schools, with better sporting equipment and training, will we see any difference.

Watch the recent documentary on DSTV with Dr Ali Bacher about Makhaya Ntini, or as he is affectionately known, The Mdingi Express.... another sportsman who would never have achieved what he did, unless he was given the proper opportunities that he got

DA

It goes wider than just the schooling - it goes to the environment that pupils are exposed to in their communities and their dietary needs.

Fact is the pass rate in matric is manipulated and of no real value for the country - thousands of pupils pass matric who are barely literate - they are useless to start any careers whatsoever.    I also wish to refer to comments of Prof Jansen about how the Universities have to implement special programs to teach students basics needed to allow them to continue with their academic studies,

The only government schools producing reasonable results remain what si called the Grade "C" schools still not destroyed by Government,

I agree Mike, there are far more other issues that affect this as well

You would think we would have done something right in the last 20 plus years, but no.

As a side note, we still have a deteriorating infrastructure, our municipalities are incapable of sticking to or effectively using any budget that they are given, as well as preventing people from stealing electricity.

Nobody is held accountable for defaulting customers, which runs into the hundreds of millions lost every month.  This could be utilized to upgrade structures that urgently need it, and it could also be plowed back into the local area development.

Eskom is screwed, SAA is screwed and Shabir Shaik has already been out of jail for over 3000 days since he was on his death bed and released from prison

What a farce, and that is just some smaller issues

The most interesting fact about Kolisi comments about going to a boarding school is that he was able to get 6 meals a day.

I want to challenge black sports people that are in the position of privilege to campaign for better schooling for all children.

That starts with Nutritional school meals.

Imagine if the government actually invested in you children and ensured that they go 3 square meals a day, decent teachers, after school clubs and sport activities on top of better preschool care to all poor parents.

How well would these kids not do in school and in sport. We would finally see black African players that had the right childhood nutrition in the early stages to develop into decent rugby players.

Rather than the likes of Chilli Steriod Ralapella that had to supplement his bulk illegally to try and compete.

Beaten to it. 2019 is going to be a great year for SA rugby as they keep painting themselves as a laughing stock.

This player has earned a badge of honour by this site as the quota player. He is the one. The quota.

He paid some lip services and people on this board, the very same who could not see him as something else but a quota player, praised him.

He is no longer considered a quota player, except by a few who have not yet received the memo. included the OP that comes up with an appropriate nickname.

Sure.

This guy says the opposite of what this board has been saying for years: this board, for years, has considered this guy as the quota player, the one by excellence. And himself, does not consider being a quota player.

Quite rich to tell people to own up to their words with such dismissal. People on this board must stick to their opinion: he is a quota player. As they have been saying for years.

About money: SA has shipped away most of its money (gold is money) and is stuck with fiat currency that gets devalued as days go by.

There is no money in SA. Kolmanskop incoming.

And this player's story is telling: he had not even a pair of socks. When some on this board claim anyone in SA could afford a pair of rugby shoes, all that was needed to grow into a professional player.

Turning against anyone speaking these kind of words shows that the words are not good enough to bamboozle.

It must be recalled that quota people in SA are far from being the sharpest knives in the world. So it is a serious alert if they can see through sheenanigans.

This player is considered a quota player on this board, he spoke a few words and suddenly, he is brave and no longer a quota player.

It seems that even quota people in SA are not that dumb not to see the situation.

To Kwotalisi doesn't deserve to be captain or a regular starter. By his own words he wants black players to be there on merit but he has been poor all season. As a captain and as a player. It is because of the racist policy that he is there. If you look at international players who are the same size and playing open side. Kolisi doesn't come close to them. Sam Kane, Hooper, Pocock, Stander, Sean Brian. Simply doesn't compete at all

Oh boy ... are you really that ignorant, DumbAss?

Kolisi's appointment as Bok captain has nothing to do with his white wife ... his private school ... or the standard of his education.

It has everything to do with his skin colour ... his race ... and that is a fact.

In other words, you dumb arse ... his selection is racist. It has nothing to do with his achievements or who he is ... but everything to do with what he is ... a black man.

Surely you know that a black man ... any BLACK MAN for that matter ... no matter his competency level ... was always scheduled to take the captains armband ... it's been on the table since these morons took over the country ... don't you know that?

If not Kolisi ... then some other black would be "running" the show ...

You are missing my point entirely, but I am not surprised, because it does not suit your stupid and racist argument.

This is a very..... very..... simple question...… so read it slowly.

If Kolisi had not attended Grey, and rather stayed in his rural township school... would he have been considered as a springbok player or the future  springbok captaincy..... Yes or No

Put very simply......would Kolisi have ever been in a better position to even compete as a springbok player, if he had not gone to Grey and stayed in his township school?

Yes    or      No

I've already made it clear enough for those who aren't semi comatose ... but seeing as you have difficulty understanding simple English ... here goes.

1. Yes ... he's black.

2. No ... it's totally irrelevant ... his black skin qualifies him as a candidate. If not him ... then any other black man who doesn't utter the words "eish" more than once in a sentence, would do.

So ... did it help .. or are you going to ask me the same thing in a slightly different way?

Mmmmm it seems you are the only semi comatose person on this forum CupCake

So Kolisi the player would have been chosen to play for the springboks if he had remained in his rural township school, or any other black person from that school, purely because he is black?

So.... you are still refusing to admit or accept that going to Grey school did nothing to help his chances to become a springbok, he merely got there from this rural township school because he is black...…

Let me explain something to you ... joining a club is a step toward being seen ... a black man with a little skill will be snapped up quickly by scouts in this country ... while the white players are ignored.

One doesn't need to come from a top school to make it in rugby. Just a little talent ... and in his case ... a black skin with a little talent .

CC

Sorry to differ - development of a good sportsman starts while he is at school and for that you need something seriously missing in the societal negative environment most Blacks encounters in heir youth:-

*    Instilling of discipline in the kids

*     Proper nutrition and diets.

*     Proper training infrastructure inclusive of gyms

*     Proper coaches.

In most of the so-called sport schools the above is available and by the time the pupils leave schools they have the basic physicality required to potentially participate or become professional sportsmen.

The above are proven requirements - in South Africa the situation is that the school community whose children are in the school provide the necessary finances.    These schools start looking for potential sportsmen when they are in primary school.   A typical example is where  Rupert's daughter identified 17 children to move to  Paul Roos with the view to both development of children academically and from  sporting perspective.   One of those children was Damian Willemse.   If he went through a normal Government High School he would have gone nowhere fast,

In Russia and China the children have all the necessary facilities available in schools - that si why they produce so many top sport participants.
