The above - coupled to the absence of Du Toit for the season represents a major problem for White. All three are major losses for the Sharks - but the two that really present a problem for White is the flyhalf and scrumhalf positions.
He could play Steyn - who buggers up with every third ball he touched and is not a player that can read games at 10 - but I think White realizes that Steyn is NOT the answer at 10. Steyn will take over the goal kicking from far out - and be kept at 12 - in the hope that the damage at 12 will be less problematic than at 10. The likely player White will fall back on at 10 is Swiel - who will be given more freedomn to play his natural game and was already solid in the game on Saturday in any event.
McLeod at scrummie is also a problem - he can occasionally be brilliant at 9 the situation is that more often than not he is a serious problem as well. Their remaining back up player at scrummie is Meyer and that could be a problem for White.
On the positive side Jordaan will be back in two weeks time and in 15 minutes on the field of play Esterhuizen did more with ball in hand than Steyn did in 80 minutes.
