Lambie set to leave SA for France

                 
Durban - Sharks flyhalf Pat Lambie has reportedly been granted an early release from both his Springbok and Sharks contracts. 

That will open the door for him to join French club Racing 92 on a three-year deal, according to IOL.

Lambie, who is still sidelined with post-concussion symptoms, was linked with the French club last month. 

The website said that Lambie would be cleared to play "any day now" and that he would join up with Racing as soon as he was fit again.

 

Lambie currently has 56 Test caps to his name, so he would be allowed to keep representing the Springboks despite relocating to France in line with SA Rugby's new policy on overseas-based players. 

Nothing had been confirmed by the Sharks on Monday morning, but more clarity on the matter was expected later in the day. 

Should Lambie join the French giants, he would play alongside All Black legend and one of the best flyhalves of the modern era, Dan Carter

 
I'm pleased for him. Not sure how much game time he'll get with Carter there.

Bear in mind that even though he has apparently chalked up 56 test, many of those were from the bench as cover. Not sure it's quite fair to claim it as a full test cap having only spent 10 or so minutes on the field trying to fix Steyn's mess.

What about Goosen. 
It seems many of his arguments stem from not being allowed to play flyhalf his preferred position.  Now he has Lambie to content with now. 
It might be better to move Lambie to 15 where he will have more space and time to avoid tackles.

Lambie and Goosen were never going to succeed as test flyhalves....it's time to ring the cash register.

A question comes to mind...how many of our promising players at youth have been ruined by deficient instructions of poor and dull coaches...had there style crippled and wings clipped...Lambie would have excelled beyond belief in the NZ enviroment.

Good luck Pat...hopefully at last you might be free to come to your own and be free to play the way you should have when you were at school.

 Moz I never fancied Lambie's 1D approach. No disrespect because he does have heart. With Bosche, Willemse, Du Plessies and Du Preez coming through one has to think Lambie wasnt confident his door would keep the wolves out. Hope he does well up north though.
Goosen on the other hand could have been good were he managed properly. He does ha e a good deal of X factor about him, is quick and has a quality boot. Crying shame really.
On the bright side, a year or two from now we might have more good tens than we can shake a stick at. Been a while since we could say that. 

Goosen has got pace....if you watch the try he scored last year against Oz he totally gassed Hougaard who was also in the chase. His best shot in my view was as a Cullen like fullback.

Unfortunately, some rugby supporters never ever see any talent in players who do not wear Lions or Stormers jerseys.

 I do feel for Lambie and I think SA will miss him. Although, I think that last year was a complete nightmare for him and I can see why he is deciding to the chase the Euro, especially when his time on the field could be limited. Another know or 2 can spell the end of his career. 
I still think Lambie would add a lot of value to the bok cause. Probably won't start all the time, but he has a level had, performs well under pressure and a good guy to keep the other fly halfs on their toes.
We also need to the experience and maturity. I'm not advocating the experience thing but we do need players such as Lambie in the mix. 
Who would you choose between. Morne Steyn or Lambie

 Great guy.
Promised a lot, but delivered a bit less than his potential.
I always wanted him to succeed, but he just didnt have that X factor.
He was neither here nor there...
Over all, of his appearences for the Sharks and the Boks, i can really only recall one massive highlight... his 50m kick vs the All Blacks.

So yeah ,it is sad, but it isnt a massive loss.
We have some nice talent at the moment...
Elton, Pollard, Willemse and Mozart.

At least his head will be kept warm in the NH winter with all that whooly hair!

 This player will join a second rate club, not giants.

Beside, this player whose career is endangered by multiple concussions, is going to join a league in which concussions are a weekly reality.
