In essence i do agree. The question must be if Lambie has reached his limit as far as development. If he has then at his best he is marginally better than morne. Given his squad versatility there is a place for him in the group. As far as the 10 jersey, we need someone who exceeds morne's developed skills. Goosen has the talent but needs to remain injury free and start performing consistently. The Cat is consistent but doesnt seem to have top end skills. If Goosen doesnt develop quickly enough and show the maturity then we might as well stick with a limited but consistent morne who has got the experience. In an ideal world i would like to see the following rank: 1. Goosen 2. Lambie 3. Cat, but until the youngsters consistenly outperform the limitations of morne it is just too much of a risk to take

@Big-Wig: Nice post, but I tend to go the other way on the details. Lambie cannot land a dominant tackle. When Adi Jacobs has to come in and mop up after you there is a serious problem. Lambie has what, two moments in two Currie Cup games, since 2010 to back up this malformed belief that he is a test option? That's ridiculous. How many things has he done for the Boks? Very little. He jumped up once and landed, stretched out his arm and scored a try. What else? Recall Morne's blindside burst last year where he bumped off the Aussie flank and stepped Beale. He almost had Pietersen away for a breakout try; this is not an isolated occurance. Morne has a better sense of when to run and when to pass, as well and when, w here and how to kick. How often does Morne pass for the sake of it? Lambie passively shuffles the ball down the line without even thinking of engaging the defence. There's no purpose to anything he does. He has precious little understanding of the position. In fact, where is he in the pecking order for fullback? Not even there does he stand out. He is just a very, very ordinary player that is talked up far too much. It's no coincidence that his very best performances and moments are at Currie Cup level, because that's the ceiling of his potential. Do you remember Earl Rose? Exactly the same occurance. He too had very few moments, and all at CC level. I was that CC quality that render his fan-boys loud mouths calling for his selection. But Earl had more about him than Lambie, for Lambie is as lifeless as cold porridge in every way. Lifeless, dull, and above all, limited. Some lessons are learned the hard way. It took Watson fans nearly five years to catch a clue and wake-up to the delusion. I fear the Lambie fans will take longer then that, such is the level of defiance among them. Strip away the layers to their faith and you find a bitter core that is hardened against Morne; so often that happens to our best, It happened to Smit, Du Preez, Monty, Os, Juan, Schalk, Habana. My personal view is that mediocrity is lauded by mediocrity. These people find themselves drawn to it because it is in themselves. Very often when someone of excellence happens upon them, these poor souls harbour hatred because it's something they feel uncomfortable with. People only like you to become so good before they feel threatened by you. The very best Boks have had this hatred directed towards them because Bok supporters are generally of very poor character, and only laud what they feel comfortable with and with which they can identify. Look at the critics and you see idiocy at every level. It's not a coincidence.
