Prosnally I dont believe lambie is in the same class. A nice flyhalf but Pollard is a great in the making. Another Meyer blunder?

Ex Keo

Pat Lambie is expected to start against Wales and looks to have surpassed Handré Pollard in the Springbok flyhalf pecking order, reports JON CARDINELLI in Cardiff.

Three months ago, Heyneke Meyer took a chance and started the one-cap Pollard at No 10 against Argentina. The Bok coach then backed the 20-year-old as the first-choice pivot in New Zealand, and in the following two Rugby Championship clashes in South Africa.

Pollard was outstanding in the Tests against the All Blacks and Wallabies, and was backed to start in the Boks’ first game of the European tour against Ireland. Meyer, however, said he would be looking at both Pollard and Lambie as starting options over the course of the four-game sojourn. The Bok coach made it clear that Pollard had plenty to prove in northern hemisphere conditions that would demand a more tactical approach.

In Dublin, Pollard battled in the wet (He was pretty good in a game where so many didnt handle well - forget the Ireland game Meyer!!!!). Meyer then stuck to a premeditated plan to start Lambie against England. Lambie made that chance count with an accurate and composed performance.( Not a bad game I agree but not on the level Pollard can play at)

The Sharks player was picked to start against Italy, and all indications suggest he will start at No 10 against Wales this Saturday. The only changes to the backline for the coming game will be at 11, 14 and 15.

Bryan Habana, JP Pietersen, and Johan Goosen have all returned to their respective clubs. Lwazi Mvovo, Cornal Hendricks and Willie le Roux will come into the starting side.

Cobus Reinach and Lambie are expected to retain their positions at scrumhalf and flyhalf. Jan Serfontein and Jean de Villiers should start in the centres, although SARugbymag.co.za understands that Damian de Allende is being considered. If the powerful Stormers midfielder doesn’t start, he will get game time from the bench. (Play him on the wing to cover the big Welsh winger North)

Wales are expected to field close to a full-strength combination this Saturday. The French-based players are available, regardless of the fact the game falls outside the Test window. This means Lambie and company will need to deal with centres Jamie Roberts (Racing Métro) and Jonathan Davies (Clermont) running down their channel. (Hence play Pollard Meyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pollard defence is superb. Lambie being a lot smaller tries hard and defendes reasonably well but cant make the same impression)

On Tuesday, Lambie said he was grateful for the extended opportunity to start against both England and Italy. After missing much of the Super Rugby season with a bicep injury, it’s clear he's relishing the prospect of even more game time.

The thought of tackling Roberts, who has caused so many problems for South Africa in the past, doesn’t seem to worry him.

‘It’s part of the job description, having the big guys like Roberts running at you,’ he said. ‘I believe our defence will be up to the task.

‘As far as attack is concerned, I feel we’ve made good progress on this tour. Sometimes it’s on to run it, and sometimes you need to play a more tactical game. The coach [Meyer] has always said he wants a flyhalf who can do both.’

Pollard is your man Meyer take it from Beeno - the one who knows!

Lambie tackles low and doesn't miss many tackles, Po llard is also good in defence, but tackles higher, don't forget the try that came from Kurindrani going through Pollard and I can't remember the other tackler because they both went high.

There is an opportunity to turn over ball with Lambie going low and having a tackle assist ready to pilfer the ball.

Sorry Beeno I know you are a Pollard fan. But at this point in time currently Meyer is right it is Lambie > Pollard. Meyer should be picking who is the best right now, not who potentially could be great. I agree Pollard is the future, but in the present Lambie is the man.

Lambie is my man for the world cup ... BUT ... for all we know, Meyer could easily drop him and bring Elton Jantjies back into the mix.

Don't be surprised if you suddenly see Goosen and Morne staking a claim for the Bok 10 jersey.

That's what happens when a full blown panic attack hits you.

Lambie tackles well front-on, but I would like to see if he could have made that tackle with Kuridrani heading past him on the angle as he was with Pollard. Lambie's distribution is not impressing me at the moment. Pollard looked so much more decisive in that department when he took the field against Italy. Hard, accurate passing and suddenly we started finding holes in the defense.

But we'll see how he goes against Wales. He's had two fairly unimpressive tests now (yes yes, keep waxing lyrical about the little practiced chip against England, it disguised an otherwise average performance). I'm just happy we have Pollard on the bench. I have a feeling we may need him.

I am 100% with Meyer on this one! Start with Bambie (even though I rate Pollard as the better fly half) and have Pollard slowly gain the experience from the bench. Nothing wrong with easing him into things! If Pollard has a solid Super Rugby season next year, start him for the Rugby Champs. If he cuts it there, he is ready for a WC start.

A little confidence goes a long way. If Lambie is left to settle as our premier 10 he'll grow massively and could quite easily blossom into something incredible.

This stop start isn't doing him any good.

We are still waiting for the team to eb announced for the Saturday game - and one can only hope there is some logic in selections for a change.   Hendricks and Mvovo are not players good enough under high balls - and there will be plenty of those onn Saturday.  They both have speed - but have serious defensive problems.
insofar as the number 1o position is concerned - I think that Pollard may well start in thet position - with Boshoff on the bench - Lambie to slot in at full back and Le  Roux moving to the wing.    That would be by far a safer proposition.

Well put Pakie Pollard distribution splits defences apart as does his running game. Huge boot and very sound BMT. Why waste time, let the guy play and he will be ready for world cup. As matters stand he already looks to be better than Lambie.
Wales have a very big backline and Meyer better take note of this. Pollard and Allende on the wing are musts.

Lambie must start this weekend. But he has to be on thin ice. His performances have been below par in just about every game he has played for the Boks.

On this site you will always have the anti-Lambie hate brigade and they will always dowplay his achievements - like they always supported Morne Steyn all out.
The issue here is two different types of flyhalfs -
*   the one being more ohysica and a stronger ball carrier in some conditions; and *   the other a player who is less physical - but with a sharper rugby brain - at least at this stage in his career.
I suspect that Pollard will sharpen up on the latter score in years to come.   So there is every possibility that Pollard is really the key player for the future.
However, as Dave stated - we are lucky to have three top quality flyhalfs in the persons of Lambie, Pollard and Goosen available for the future.   I think all three will bein the WC squad to cover both the flyhalf and full back postitons - the latter as cover for Willie le Roux.
In the meantime some members still yearn back to the dead backline rugby of Morne Steyn and heaven help us - also  Francais Steyn.   One has to assume those retards will never learn anyhting about rugby as a game.

I have been splicing the footage from the tests and all I can say is that it's a damn disgrace that Lambie has a single test to his name. Cannot tackle, cannot pass, his kicking game is iffy, has no physicality whatsoever, cannot make decisions, has no authority or urgency to his game.

Better than Pollard? What a joke. He has been the only quality halfback on display on this tour. That by a considerable margin!

Really? Name one successful tackle by Lambie? He bleeds momentum in contact. His iffy kicking nearly cost us against England. That missed kick into the corner from just outside the 22 with a man up was only the tip of the ice-berg, and we see it in most games. Then there is his floater passes. It creates so much pressure for our backs they end up being swarmed. He cannot throw a long, accurate, fast pass of any hand. These are facts, plain, hard, cold, facts. Like I say, the critics to my assessments can only respond with personal insults , because it's the only card they have to defend Lambie; that speaks for itself how poor the player they defend really is!

Pollard an all time great???

How do you come to that Henpecked ??

Don't you think you should rather let him play a few more seasons before you chalk him up in the hall of fame?

If I remember correctly you said the same about Johan Goosen.

Tell me Beandip, do you still regard Goosen as an "all time great" or has that feeling changed a tad?

Forget about all the stateents of Letsallbemorons.  Lets look a bit athis comments:-
"Cannot tackle, cannot pass, his kicking game is iffy, has no physical whatsoever in the position, cannot make decisions, has no authority or urgency to his game"
The village idiot started off with absolute crap.   In the last two games Lambie made 16 tackles and missed only 1.  That is another of his toitaly unfounded statements.
Now the cannot pass relates entirely to a skip pass Lambie made to Matfield - who was loitering in the abckline - and the latter made no attempot to catch the ball - which ended up at the feet of Pietersen who knocked hthe ball on.   Matfield moonlighting in the backline cost us a cetain try in that case.   Mind you that was not the only poroblem with Matfield at center in the last game - Le Roux passed a ball to him and he also opted out - another potential try gone.
The kick launched by Lambie - colected by Willie and a try score dby reinach is a tyupical example of intelligent play and is a good example of decisionmaking.
The rest is a classical and extreme example of verbal diarrhea by Letsallbemorons.
This is the typical garbage from a nitwit whoo thinks Morne Steyn is the ideal flyhalf - and he unfoirtunately brought all the deficiencies of Morne into the picture and assign them to Lambie.   Morne's missed tackle ratio indicates a real case of tackle deficiency - the ratio was 46,67% missed tackles - that is typical.
Just incidentally - none of the great flyhalfs of the past - and I do not really include Lambie in that category - was particularly physical ain built and performance - so now th e dolt reckon that to be a flyhalf you have to eb pa physical fatso like Francois  Steyn - spare us that one please.  It is a typical League of Morons arguument. The fact is he is prejudiced against Lambie and comes up with the most extreme garbage  to discredit theplayer.

THAT is such a rubbish comment, completely deluded, biased, ignorant and whatever other negative adjective you can throw at it.

I n 7 test matches starting at fly half, he has made 64 tackles and missed 4. He kicks as well as Pollard to posts, his tactical kicking is currently better than Pollard's, if you don't think he can be physical watch his try against Australia at Newlands this year.

" However much you enjoyed it, I think I must have enjoyed it more."

See now, Klown, this reply is so typical of both Admit Cum and Drivelling Avocado.

If you accuse either one of these moles of being another poster then they respond like most normal people would . . . they have a laugh and they let the accuser believe what he wants. Same as you or I would do. If someone came along and accused you of being Baboon-ou you wouldn't waste your time setting him straight, you'd probably make a few Baboon-ouisms to make him believe it more because it would create a bit of fun.

In that respect, Admit Cum and Drivelling Avocado are no different to other posters . . . one of the reasons I don't think you're right about Admit Cum being Taipansy . . . but accuse one of these two little crybaby of being a mole and just watch the difference! They suddenly get all indignant, the hands go to the hips, the feet start stamping and they start spouting the biggest load of defensive and paranoid garbage to prove that they're not moles.

These little Kamp SS moles aren't fooling me, they're just confirming my suspicions every time they open their silly little traps.

Fact is, you handle accusations of being other posters the same way we all do but when you (and Drivelling Avocado) are ever accused of being moles, it's a very different response. I don't care if you go all red in the face and start demanding proof of this . . . in fact I hope you do . . . but I know that there are a few posters nodding their heads in agreement.

LMAO!

Nah! As I indicated already, I don't mind because the accusations basically only occur, after I kicked some butt. And as I also said, please carry on!

And now, back to the topic. Lambie is just the best choice at this moment, because Pollard is quite useless unless a gap or half-gap is already created. When he was supposed to create space for other by running, he got caught behind the advantage line and nothing constructive came from it. Other teams are already starting to read him.

Lambie on the other hand was quite impressive in the determination with his runs, but he lacked the support to recycle quickly. At least he got over the advantage line and that placed us in a better position.
