V Good starts by NZ , Fiji and SA on day one of the Vegas 7s.

Always very satisfying beating the French after them letting off all their nuclear bombs in our backyard , the sinking the Rainbow Warrior and just a general lack of respect we get for saving their country in WW1 and WW2 etc...

How prophetic was Brycy's last" Watchout for Kenya posting.?

Spooky that was...and here was me thinking the only magic Brycy was capable of was turning into a pub.

How about those Kenyans taking Frances position at No 2 on the ladder ?

If they don't watchout SA may have a bit of competition , Kenya challenging for the top rugby nation in Africa.

I see Canada is continuing there good form from Wellington and have already kicked Kenyas butt.

Canrugby will be pleased. Although SA also beat Canada so bit of a dichotomy there mate.

. Pool A (ENG, SCO, FIJ, POR)

Fiji won both of their opening matches on day one of the USA Sevens at the Sam Boyd Stadium, narrowly holding on to a 14-12 victory against Scotland, with Russell Weir missing a last-minute penalty drop goal.

England, last week's champions, lost both of their two matches, against Fiji 26-17 with two tries from Samisoni Viriviri and Portugal 21-5.

Scotland beat Portugal in their first match, with Mark Robertson and Michael Fedo scoring the tries, but Colin Gregor's conversion from the touchline proved decisive, with all three teams still in with a chance of reaching the Cup competition.

Pool B (KEN, RSA, CAN, URU)

South Africa became the second side to end day one with a 100% record, adding a 17-5 victory against Canada to a 45-0 victory against the only non-core side competing in Las Vegas, Uruguay, thanks to two tries from Cornal Hendricks.

Canada defeated Kenya in match three, which meant both of the Hertz Sevens finalists lost their opening matches. Sean Duke crossed for his 22nd of the Series, with Nanyak Dala and Jeffery Hassler scoring Canada's other two tries.

Mike Friday's side bounced back from their opening defeat to come from 7-5 behind to inflict a second defeat to Uruguay, with Biko Adema benefiting from great hands from Oscar Ayodi, and this pool will also only be decided on day two.

Pool C (NZL, ARG, FRA, WAL)

New Zealand also won both of their two matches on day one, conceding just five points in the process. Belgium Tuatagaloa helped the current defending champions New Zealand beat France 21-0 with two of their three tries before they beat Wales 40-5 with Ben Lam crossing for a hat-trick and one for Rocky Khan.

Reigning Rugby World Cup Sevens champions Wales beat Argentina in a rematch of that 2009 final in Dubai 17-7 in their first match of the USA Sevens.

Javier Rojas secured a 14-12 victory for Argentina against France, Los Pumas' first win of the day, and Les Bleus' second defeat. Both sides can still reach the Cup quarters.

Pool D (SAM, AUS, ESP, USA)

Defending champions Samoa came from 12-0 behind to beat Spain 19-12, with captain Afa Aiono scoring the winning try under the posts to the delight of the crowd at the Sam Boyd Stadium.

The hosts USA lost their opening match to Australia 26-7, meaning Michael O'Connor's side have now won nine of their last 10 matches

Brycy

I have been following the games - but they are played at a very akward time or SA viewers and was probably missed by 80% of the local rugby supporters.   The SA team has done well with a point diffrnce of nearly 100 points in games played thus far - but they also have a bad reputation of buggering up when we least expect it.   Would no put any money on the game tonight.

blitzboks have a team that is very talented with speed to burn, what the lack is that playmkaer xfactor extrodinaire which is monoplised by cecil afrika. the blitzboks without cecil afrika is just another good 7s team, but with cecil afrika, they are a formidable force.
i would rate that 7s superstar as one of the top 3 players to ever play the game, behind waisale serevi of NZ and eric rush.

while NZ dont have a playmaker that can match cecil, what they do have is a solid 7s core which can do the job when combined as a unit, it means they would have to lose more then one or two players before their strcutures start to reach breaking point.

brycys kenyan predictions were pretty solid and it wasnt until i watched the NZ 7s and saw the way they were playing in that tournament that i started to agree, but they still havent ticked of consistency from their checkbox, in fact only NZ and fiji have done that over the years.

good to see kenya at No2, but i expect them to fall out of the top 4 by the time the 7s world series is over, with fiji to creep back in the top 3 by seasons end, with eng, samoa and SA to go hard all the way too.
