He hasn't been a bad ambassador as captain, but he has been nothing special as a player in my opinion. It just feels a lot like when Barry S was given a Nobel Prize for essentially, being black. Your thoughts?
I find he struggles massively in physical tests. He doesn't inspire much confidence in me in important tests. Not a technically flawed player, but limited. I do like a hooker as a captain.
Kolisi has been appointed the poster boy for rugby transformation. It's all a lot of window dressing, of course, but you can't blame the player for that. So good on him. At least he is a decent player, if limited, as Lurker says.

His skill as a rugby player was not under consideration and given the other nominees, I would probably also have voted for Kolisi.
How does being black captain united South Africa when the purpose is to make an anti-white political statement? This world is sickening.
I like the guy but hate the politics of it all.
I suppose Coetzee thought he could use Kolisi in a wide alignment. However he isn't strong enough to hold the ball up like a Strauss. That's how I think he got into Coetzee's team. Watching your Boks captain get run over easily is very disheartening. The Boks are an emotional team, as South Africans are emotionally people. They need a leader who exudes power and can stir them up. Marx is the best player in world rugby, and he fits the bill for me. I really like a hooker as captain as well.
People were saying that Kwagga should be used as an impact player.
For me Kolisi fits the impact role quite nicely but isn't a starter. Running at tired defences in a bit of space seems to be his strength. He does have good hands and is more skilful all round than many of our first choice loosies. But Rassie wash;t even giving him a full game against England9what was that about...purely rotational?)
Not skill full enough to fully compensate fir his size though. Kwagga barely is.
I'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt from a big picture perspective but am gutted for Whitely who hasn't put a foot wrong while at the same time wrecking his body to get where he wants to be and honestly is probably the most deserving of the job.
Heard via via that Whiteley's body is train wreck at present and his list of breaks and tears is apparently seriously long...going all the way back to school days.
Duane is a tricky one since it's hard to guess how many 100% or even 75% games he can string together at this point.
