I have a suggestion that probably won't garner much support, but here it is none the less. What about M Steyn at 12? None of the other players in the squad have been able to do anything of substance in that position, so why not experiment? With Steyn there, we have a reliable goal kicker, which would remove that responsibility and pressure from the selected fly half. His defens e is no worse than any of the other 12's, so he'd be no more of a liability in that regard, and with the extra tactical kicking option, we could have either Jantjies or Lambie with more freedom to play an expansive game from the 10 birth. We could have beaten both Arg and Aus if we had been able to slot our shots at goal.
Just throwing it out there for debate, not saying it is the answer to all our woes, just something worth looking at.

With respect I say this.HOW SAD IS OUR STATE OF AFFAIRS THAT WE HAVE TO CONSIDER MORNE AT 12??
22 Sept 2016, 08:43#3
The thing us Kiwis hated most about Morne was that infuriating metronome kickingof his ! The only real goal kicking failure I can recall of his was in the 2011 game against Oz at the RWC .

Bluebok -- Morne Seyn's defense is basically non-existent. In the last test he started he missed 8 of 15 tackle attempts and in some club games for Stade Francais he s even worse. That is why he is not a regular starter for his club either. He does that at flyhalf - at center it would be even worse. Just for the re cord from a defensive point of view Morne went AWOL on Saturday. No tackles attempted - no tackles missed as a result. Am afraid I cannot agree with you here.

If Fat Frans's fit, with his head space in order, I'll have him at 15 .

Haaaaaaahahahahahahaaa!!
No Bluebok!!! No, No, No , No, Nooooooooooooooo!!!
Have you lost your mind?
Have you come down with a fever or something? Feeling a little light headed, perhaps?
Too many late nights at some gig again, huh?
And all this time I thought there was hope for you!!

Lost my mind ages ago CC, too late for me to worry about that! De Allende, Kriel, Mapoe, De Jongh....which one exactly would make you think the position is properly taken care of? Exactly, none of them! I am not saying we don't have better prospects in the country, but the players in the Boks squad all suck anyway, so we may as well benefit from a having a reliable kicker. Also, hear me out here, Lambie or Jantjies may just thrive when there is someone else who can absorb the pressure of some of the tactical kicking.

Frans at 10, Janse at 12......a power axis.
23 Sept 2016, 09:13#12
Frans is as much a test 10 as Coenie is a test tighthead prop.
We need someone with a brain to run the show at pivot and sadly Frans' only thought is slotting a drop goal from his own 22.

Fransie and Coenie is pace-wise on par - so you are in fact making a rather dubious comparison. I think Coenie would be a better flyhalf than Fransie is. LMAO

No, we need specialists in midfield. Not more flyhalf or wing or fullback converts.
23 Sept 2016, 11:59#15
So true ... at least he can pass the ball and doesn't lose it in contact.
I also think he'd rather hang on to possession than kick it all away.
You may be onto something here, Mike!!

Playing Morne Steyn at 12, brings back memories of the worst Springbok combination ever of Louis Koen at 10- and brain dead Braam van Straaten at 12.
