The Highlanders did badly this year - and since I am not a Highlander supporter - I am delighted to see that they have learnt nothing from their habit to sign hasbeens - so much the same expected for next year. Thorn is way past his sell-by date and so is Hore, Woodcock and a few others in the team. Spooony - You are a star.

Thank yo Mike

But the Highlanders is leading the charts or one of the leaders in all phases of the game. Its just their finishing that let them down. That is mainly due to the reason that nobody filled Thompsons shoes who was all over the place and his speedy work to the breakdown point.

Btw this is the most international players on their roster than they have had since the heady days of the late nineties, when only some Crusaders magic preventing the Southerners from claiming Super Rugby glory, is that the team dynamic isn't clicking like it should.

thron is a good recruit for the highlander in 2014, he will continue to add a lot to the highlanders like he has in 2013, his experience will aid them greatly considering theyre losing a lot of players overseas.

people forget that the highlanders had an injury rate on par with the stormers and sharks too, nasi manu was massive loss for the highlanders and so early on in the season too, cos manus AB material, coupled with the loss of thomo overseas plus injuries to players throughout their season, and it all snowballed into the highlanders being unable to get out of first gear.
highlanders are completely free from blame though, they were responsible for a lot of their losses too with poor selections from jospeh and poor tactics and decisions from the players.

i expect 2014 to be different though, were going to see a lot more of buxton potualii now that both gear and poki are gone and IMO hes right up there with both of them with linebreaking xfactor prowess.
and the rise of kerr barlow and perenara has lit a fire under smiths ass who is being more assertive then ever before.

want to see coltman start getting more gametime too, hores been great, but jospeh cant ignore that hores on borrowed time,

one of the keys will be getting sopoaga fit as hes injury prone, or at the very least getting a decent flyahlf as back up.
i really hope they get tyler blyendaal to go to the highlanders, he would be a perfect fit.

South Africans may not like Thorn, but that does not take away from his ability.  For a lock to still play at SuperRugby level at 39 is in itself a damn good achievement.  One of the greats of the game of rugby.

Duncan McLeod - inderdaad. (for sure)

The Highlander was Connor McLeod, not Duncan McLeod.

Great movie. Pity about the sequels!
