MacDonald has dropped a bombshell by resigning only 5 months into the job! Apparently he and Razor couldn’t agree on tactics/selections and have parted ways. This is a real worry for us fans as there could now also be a split within the team ranks if some players thought highly of Leon. You would have thought Razor would have determined all his coaching staff were aligned with his way of thinking prior to appointing them. I can’t believe Leon has had a sudden about face on his beliefs! Anyway it can’t be good for team morale and if it was a difficult assignment in SA already, it just became a wee bit harder!

Just read the announcements. Unusual as you say moolaa. Razor has certainly had a rough start.

Well it doesn’t necessarily mean it will have a negative effect on the players. Rassie and our then Backline coach Swys de bruin , also didn’t see eye to eye . He went his way and it didn’t effect the players that much.

Bullshit did Swys and Rassie not see eye to eye - Swys left because of mental health issues as he did when he was at the Lions These days he prefers to work as a consultant which is what he is going to be doing with the SA woman’s side

I am fine with him leaving, never got my head around why Razor wanted to work with him again after Leon walked out on him at the Crusaders in 2017. Leon stated family reasons at the time which may be the truth as if it was anything more I am sure they would not want to partner up together.

Don't get me wrong I am a fan of his as a player but his coaching record at the Blues is not all that flash (Razor slaughtered them in every finals game they faced each other in)

As reported they hadn't work with each other in over 6 years and in that time Leon went down his own path as head coach.

And lastly our attack has not looked the flashest so its possible Razor has seen this and given Leon the heave ho?

Mpower

Dave is right - De Brui did not resign because of differences of approach between him and Erasmus.  and when he elft the sartegy for the 2019 WC campaign was already in place and he never publicly indicate that he left because of dfferences of approach on backline issues from Erasmus.   Fact is e said he was resigning because of  health issues - probably high blood pressure caused by mental strai.    .

The situation is vastly different betweenw ha happened in New Zealand and there seems to be seriosu divisionon te issue of team selection and strategiesssss.

On would ahve to wait r the enxt edition of the major rugby discussion on Monday next wek to see what is really in teir mind on the issue,

Hope BB post that on on site as well.

" It was an amazing time and I learned a lot. My decision to step away from my role (as attack coach) in 2018 was two-fold. On the one hand, it was from a stress-related point of view and on the other it was in terms of a different outlook as far as game philosophy was concerned." 21 Jan 2022 https://www.news24.com › ... EXCLUSIVE: Ex-Springbok attack coach Swys de Bruin ... It’s not bullshit, you bull shitter!! And it’s not a good look to have your head buried up someone’s butt, Clever!!
