I will add my comments on the Lions kings game after the game this afternoon:-
Springbok squad

Forwards (18):
Lood de Jager, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Ruan Dreyer, Eben Etzebeth, Steven Kitshoff, Siya Kolisi, Jaco Kriel, Frans Malherbe, Malcolm Marx, Bongi Mbonambi, Oupa Mohoje, Franco Mostert, Tendai Mtawarira, Lizo Gqoboka, Coenie Oosthuizen, Chiliboy Ralepelle, Duane Vermeulen, Warren Whiteley (c)

Backs (13):
Lukhanyo Am, Andries Coetzee, Ross Cronje, Damian de Allende, Francois Hougaard, Elton Jantjies, Jesse Kriel, Dillyn Leyds, Rudy Paige, Raymond Rhule, Jan Serfontein, Courtnall Skosan, Frans Steyn,

Lood de Jager - was good enough and played a solid game in a team that was as a whole poor

Jean-Luc du Preez - had a very good game

Pieter-Steph du Toit - had a sub-par performance insofar as line-outs are concerned - but the throw-ins were partly to blame

Ruan Dreyer - Good game - but initial problems in scrumming

Eben Etzebeth - acceptable performance

Steven Kitshoff -  Did not play in any match

Siya Kolisi - was at least trying, but not a house on fire

Jaco Kriel -  Came on late - but was not as good as Kwagga Smith

Frans Malherbe -  had a satisfactory performance, not a house on fire

Malcolm Marx - Absolute top class performance

Bongi Mbonambi - played a real shocker - very poor

Oupa Mohoje - tried his best to ensure a Cheetahs loss, but even in that effort was unsuccessful

Franco Mostert -  solid performance

Tendai Mtawarira - came from the bench and showed very little during the time he played

Lizo Gqoboka - a very dicey game

Coenie Ootshuizen - good game

Chiliboy Ralepelle - was injured fairly early and was a nondescript player while on the field of play

Duane Vermeulen  -  had a good game for Toulon in a game where no tries were scored.

Warren  Whiteley -  top class perfomance

Backs

Lukhanjo Am - was injured but while on the field of play he had a reasonably good game

Andries Coetzee - outstanding performance

Ross Cronje - was very iffy

Damian de Allende -was poor n defense, but had some strong carries

Francois Hougaard - did not play in any game

Elton Jantjies - solid performance -

Jesse Kriel - a poor performance in a sub-par team

Dillyn Leyds - a poor performance in a sub-bar team

Rudy Paige - a very poor game being caught behind mauls and poor game generally

Raymond Rhule  -  did he actually play?

Jan Serfontein - a reasonable game in a losing team

Courtnall Skosan -  good performance

Francois Steyn - Did not play this weekend - after an absolute shocker last Saturday

Summing Up

I still cannot understand the selection of the squad and in general I cannot understand the quad selection.

Will follow after the Lions-Kings game

...not so clevermike,  couldn't you argue Combrinck is as good as any winger named in that squad ?...arguably better given he can also double as a fullback and play centre as well.....versatility being a virtue and one of the keys to the ABs success/ strengths could well be (as well as valuing utility players), having those two fullbacks in Smith and Dagg back there in cover...
A fullback is arguably the complete player, unlike in the past where they just stood at the back- these days they're a big part of the attack as well as being last line of defence...that's where youll find the best players -your Folaus and McKenzies...
...that said Hansen may well go for two specialized wingers , Julian Savea and Waisake Naholo for the Lions tour...but two fullbacks have worked well in the past for us...

Combrinck is definitely probably the best winger we have in the country, I think because he just came back from injury counted against, that or Coetzee is more of an idiot than previously thought.

The Boks need to go with the power of a Combrinck on side and a gas man like Skosan on the other, like the lions do.
Find it hard to give any of the Stormers pack credit, they were smashed up by the Sharks.

Also you can add Jean-luc to the list as he has been moved to the main team, he had a good game I think.

Also. I hope you're still a sharkie mike
