Liebenberg gets Bok call-up Wed, 15 Aug 2012 11:13 AM  EmailMore

Hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle on Wednesday withdrew from the Springbok squad because of a knee injury.

Western Province hooker Tiaan Liebenberg has replaced Ralepelle in the squad and trained with the team on Wednesday morning in Cape Town.

Ralepelle, who has played in 21 Tests for the Springboks, injured his knee during a training drill on Tuesday afternoon.

"We assessed him again this morning and he will not be available at least for the first two Tests in the Rugby Championship," said Springbok team doctor Craig Roberts.

Liebenberg, who toured with the Springboks at the end of 2007 and played against the Barbarians, was on the official stand-by list.

This setback follows the loss of No.8 Pierre Spies on Tuesday. Spies will miss the entire Rugby Championship.

So much for not calling anyone up. He is a great addition to the squad he had a fantastic weekend against the Sharks and has been in really good form recently.

I doubt he will get a game though. mostly there as backup. He might be one of the 4 left at home for the trip to Medoza.

What a poor selection, this guy is piss poor and stupid. Burden, Fourie and Visagie are all better bets

Well done Tiaan - fully deserved. Tiaan scrums well and when he goes off our scrum suffers. Big and abrasive he is a guy who gets stuck in and does the work of a tight forward but i salso nice and mobile.

Close call between him and Strauss. Tiaan is a bit more physical so if Bissie comes off and we need a physical hooker Tiaan is a possibility.

Hahahahahahaha ou snapter obviously is all at sea re hookers as well.  I will however concede that Deon Fouris could be a very useful bench member.

I agree with Saffex somewhat on this one. I like Tiaan, and don't think he's "piss poor", but I think Fourie, or Cruden would be much better selections. Fourie is on form right now and can be used as a utility forward if the circumstances called for it.

Or how about we play Sonny Bill Williams at Hooker for the boks, I think this would be a better selection than Cruden to start at 2.

LOL. Ya ya ya....That was a fail. I was looking at the starting lineups for the AB's game as well. Where's that embarrassed emoticon?

You know who I mean. Burden.

So with Bismarck out Strauss will probebly start this weekend with either Tiaan or Burden on the bench. Intereseting development.

liebenberg is a decent performer and always plays 100% cant fault the man on commitment. he should be on the bench this weekend. good selection seeing that the knows the stormers locks so in that aspect it will help cohesion aswell
