Golden Lions have given the Springboks advice should they end up meeting Samoa in three weeks' time.

The Boks face Italy and Scotland over the next two weeks and could face Samoa at Loftus Versfeld if the Islanders manage to beat Scotland and Italy in the quadrangular tournament.

The Lions thrashed Samoa 74-14 over the weekend, and even though it was a slightly weakened Samoan side, a fair few of the players who played at Ellis Park will be in action against Scotland, Italy and maybe South Africa.

Samoa's group will be strengthened this week but Lions coach Johan Ackermann believes his side's game plan was the right way to topple the men from the Pacific Islands.

"If the Springboks come up against Samoa I hope they see you can create chances if you throw the ball wide," Ackermann told Beeld. "The Samoans are big boys, you have to move them around. We made it our aim to play exciting and innovative rugby." (It was very exciting rugby and the forwards set a great platform)

Ackermann said Samoa would need to improve in a few aspects if they are to face the Springboks in the final match of the series.

"Firstly, they'll have to keep up with the tempo (of Scotland and Italy). Secondly, they'll have to do something about their scrums. I was surprised how weak their scrums were (indeed one very fat samoan was 140 kg!!!!) and I don't know if they'll get more props. They'll also have to pay attention on how to stop rolling mauls

I am sure they will be get better - we shall see.
