Is in danger of being cancelled.

A final decision is being made in February, it seems.

At this stage, it is probably for the best to cancel.
Neither team is going to be prepared- given both countries have developed a new strain that is far more contagious.
Hopefully, it could be rescheduled. Seems the Olympics may even be cancelled(again).

I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see it cancelled.

Both countries are in rather a mess regarding COVID, so it is probably for the best.

Can’t see it going ahead given SA will be late in implementing the vaccine Talk of postponing the Lions for a year but that has implications for other test fixtures in 2022, so not a simple solution

I think it will be cancelled, they’ll have no real option to do anything else.

As for postponement, we’ll that throws up more problems than it solves.

They may just try and play local fixtures in the NH instead. Not ideal but nothing is these days !

Sadly it would be best to cancel.

I think they should postpone the tour for a year and cancel the fixtures that would have been played in 2022 It’s that simple - fuck the inconsequential tests that are scheduled for 2022

I can’t see that happening. It’s all about money now so the unions of the teams playing those tests will want them to go ahead.

It’s a difficult situation.

Rassie must be ecstatic another year without rugby. If everybody on both teams gets vaccinated what could the risk be? Money?

30 000 Brits not being able to watch the Lions is the major issue All 3 tests sold out within minutes

The TV rights are huge and something is better than nothing

We don’t even know if the vaccinations are going to be the cure all we’re being led to believe. We’re going to have to wait and see what happens.

That said, the Tour is being viewed as too dangerous regardless of a vaccination programme. There’s no way the fans touring party can all be jabbed in time to go and we know SA won’t have their vaccination programme in full swing by then.

TV rights are a consideration but to those in charge, the current risk is seeming to outweigh the reward.
