Bearing in mind that some SA teams still has to play tomorrow - the log positions are very interesting.    If the Stormers manage a win tomorrow - they will be second on the log.   If they do something they have never achieved this year and win whilst scoring four tries - they will go top of the overall log.    The Stormer's team is nearly up to strength - with only Vermeulen and Burger still out - and I think they will win and may just manage to score four tries.

The Chiefs could end up top of the log - but for the Stormers could possibly getting ahead of them.  The Crusaders cannot top the New Zealand log and will end up either 4th or fifth.

The Bulls can win the remaining game - but may end up fifth or 6th on the log.    The Sharks will to my mind be one of the play-off teams,   The same applies to the Reds.

My forecast is consequently that there will be 2 SA teans in the play-offs and one New Zealand team.   If the Reds win next week - they could also be in the play-offs.

Lots to play for next weekend.

Mike I would disagree with the reds making it into the top 6.

Both the Sharks and Bulls need to win next week, and score 4 tries in the process to get the bonus points.

This will make it impossibale for the Red to overtake them. If the Reds make it into the playoffs it will be at the expense of the Brumbies who are on the same points.

If the Bulls or Sharks do not get a bonus point win, and the reds get a bonus point win- the reds will overtake both of them. This would knock the sharks out of the top 6 because the Bulls have a better scores difference. (unless it is a massacre against the Cheetas to make up this scores difference)

I would expect the Sharks to score 4 tries and win against the Cheetas.

I am allmost certain the Bulls will score 4 tries and win against the Lions.

So I think it will be 3 South African teams into the Playoffs this year.

All 4 games are at home- so all should be expected to win.

brumbies vs Blues at home- and Reds vs Waratahs at home. I dont expect the Reds getting 4 tries against the Waratahs. With the Brumbies having a higher points difference I would expect them to be the only Australian team in the play offs.

3. Brumbies () 14 9 5 0 2 369 286 83 10 54   Wild card teams 4. Crusaders () 15 10 5 0 2 447 319 128 8 56 5 Bulls () 15 9 6 0 2 435 349 86 10 54 6. Sharks () 15 9 6 0 2 402 333 69 10 54                           7. Reds () 15 10 5 0 2 327 331 -4 5 53 8. Hurricanes () 15 9 6 0 2 461 404 57 9 53

As for the Stormers- they could win the Super 15 if they score the 4 tries tomorrow. This will put them top of the log due to more games won than the chiefs. The only way the Chiefs could reclaim the lead is to score 4 tries in their final match against the Hurricanes- also played at home. Then hope the Stormers do not also score 4 tries.

Given the Stormers have not done this once so far, it is unlikely they will be able to do this in the 2 final games.

So tomorrow or next week they will need to get the 4 tries- if they do score 4 tries in both games -they win the league and have home advantage for all the knock out stages. As you stated the team is allmost back to full strenght.

Hi Guys,

What is so positive about the logs at the moment is the fact that 3 of our provinces are in the top 6. This is a pertinent point and show's the rest of the SH nations prior to the Rugby Championship that SA rugby is as strong as it has ever been.

I would assume that NZ would be looking hard at this fact and be concerned that we have this amount of depth and power ready to take on their mantle. I for one believe that if the Stormers make it to the final with a home advantage then it is a definate win for them and a much needed boost for all South Africa.

I watched the Chiefs and Crusaders, Highlanders and Reds and both those games were extremely low on skill and I believe that our SA teams are peaking at the right time and I can only be blown away at the prospect of a SA vs SA final????.....................................

For once I am feeling really good about SA after such a dissapointment from the RWC.

It is indeed unlikely that the Reds would make it into the play-offs.  It will only happen of they win the next game and the brumbies loses.   That would put them on top of the Aussie log and automatically as no 3 on the log.   However, it would be between them and the Brumbies and the jury is iut on that one.   I would favour the Brumbies - but it could turn into a toss-up.

I cannot see the Hurricans beating the Chiefs - it could happen, but is unlikely - if so - they could come into contention as well.

The most likely scenario remains - and that is the Stormers remaining on top of the SA Conference as automatic no 2 on the combined log - and the rest of the top 6 on the log being as is is at the moment.being as the logs is at present.
