There is no doubt he must go to the lions where he will become a legend. This guy has it all and at the Lions will become the great he should be. Some here however choose to laud wee matfiled the Bok disaster of yesteryear while smearing the huge talents of Lood. Lood played great rugby for the Boks but has been quiet this year by his high standards. Ackermann will get him going.  Ex Sport 24

Cape Town - Springbok lock Lood de Jager has played his last Super Rugby match for the Cheetahs and will play for either the Lions or Bulls next season.

De Jager, who picked up a calf injury playing for the Springboks in the June Test window, is currently undergoing a rehabilitation programme and will not feature in the remainder of the Super Rugby competition.

His last Super Rugby game for the Cheetahs was against the Stormers at Newlands on May 28.

His contract with the Cheetahs expires at the end of this year’s Currie Cup and he has confirmed that he will leave the Bloemfontein franchise.

In an in interview with Netwerk24, De Jager said he would like to go to a franchise capable of winning trophies.

“There are lots of things that still need to fall in place. Nothing has been finalised yet. But it’s between the Bulls and Lions so we’ll have to wait and see how the negotiations develop.”

The 23-year-old De Jager, who boasts 20 Test caps, is expected to be fit for the Rugby Championship.

Oaks w hat an embarrassment of riches we have at lock right now!

Agree Beeno. It'll be much better for him and for Springbok rugby if he comes to JHB. It just seems to me that players go from strength to strength there while at the Bulls the go from talented to confused.

Hasbeeno, Jerome Kaino has put in a special request to the Bok coach to play Lood in the RC so that he can make a monkey of him again.....

Mooooooo la la la wee kained ou was just lucky Lood dint nail him as he had too much ground to make up despite the good DR Mozzzzz missing that bit. They would have taken hours to scrape poor kained ou off the grass!
Yes Plim the Lions need some more depth at lock and their coaching is far better. ACKERMANN WAS A FINE LOCK AND CAN GUIDE LOOD TO GREATNESS.Lood don't be a fool and fall for the big bulle boodle CARROT. Look what happened to Sadie and JJ! Etc. You also don't want a 107 kg lock partner hahahahahahhaha

I think if De Jager is wise he will go to the Lions.  And Moolaa - if there is one thing where the AB's has a real problem - it is at lock.  Whitelock and Retallck is very, very average and the rest poor.

We don't want him.
Please Lood ... go to the Bulls.
Your poor standard of play will make you feel right at home there.

De Jager missed a tackle on Kaino - Whitelock and Retallick just vanish in to the backline - no locks at all.

Come now Plum ... not you as well.
Lood is a weed. Over rated. We don't want his likes anywhere near us. Simply useless.
We have home grown talent in Erasmus who I rate highly. A boy for the future.
Besides, Mostert is returning for next seasons super rugby anyway.

 @CC,

"Besides, Mostert is returning for next seasons super rugby anyway."

he signed for Lyon for 2 years so it's impossible that he'll be returning for next season's SR

"He joined French Top 14 side Lyon prior to the 2016–17 season on a two-year contract."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franco_Mostert

"The Emirates Lions have lost the services of lock Franco Mostert after he signed a contract to play for French Pro D2 outfit Lyon after his contract ends this year.

Mostert, who has been the heart and soul of the Lions tight five and is highly regarded as a potential future Springbok, was unveiled on the Lyon website as part of their 12 new recruits for the upcoming season which starts later this year.

While it is unclear whether he will be released after Vodacom Super Rugby or only join the team in November when his contract ends,"

Lomp is a self centered lout who did his best never to call Etzebeth's number in the WC. After running over a few small chaps in the pool games he disappeared in the knockouts....mostly, but he did give away a vital tackle against the ABs and spill good ball against Wales.
In Super rugby Etzebeth ripped him a new one in a totally dominant performance.
Lomp is a flat track bully, not even a good lineout option because of his slow reactions. And when there is no personal glory to be had...as lazy as they come.

 Thanks Basque ... I wasn't sure.
That's bad news I must say.
Erasmus will no doubt use this opportunity ... I rate this guys big time and look forward to seeing him on the field.
It's fantastic news that the Bulls have taken Lood!!! It's made my day that little bit brighter knowing he's not part of the Lions mix.
And yes, Ceradyne ... I heard the same thing. The plodding style of Bulls rugby is better suited to the soft flabby mid section of Lood.
Haaaaaaahahahahahaaa!! Sure has that dumb look sorted. Now we at east know why Eben never received the ball. L OL!!!

We will soon see just how ineffective he is at the Bulls as he was at the Cheetahs ... and at test level ...
The Cheetahs are better without him ...

An extract from Draad's link.
The Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd on Tuesday confirmed that Lodewyk (Lood) de Jager has agreed terms with them and will join the Vodacom Bulls on November 1st, 2016 on a 12-month contract.

The SA Rugby Player of the Year for 2015 is currently playing his trade in Bloemfontein, where he has played in 40 matches for the Toyota Cheetahs in the Vodacom Super Rugby tournament thus far. The 23-year old also has 20 test matches for the Springboks to his credit.

Commenting on the signing, BBC High Performance Manager, Xander Janse van Rensburg, expressed his delight with the signing.

"This is great news for us, not only because Lood is one of the best locks in the world, but also the fact that he sees the Vodacom Bulls as a team that will enhance his career and ambitions. This is a compliment to what we are trying to achieve and a massive boost to our vision to build something special again in Pretoria," Janse van Rensburg said.

There are too many amateur rugby oaks commenting here who lack rugby acumen and don't know much about locks!!  Some actually rate that serial flop wee matfiled! 105kg. Need I say more!   Bwhahahaahahahaha

The Lions however would be a far better bet for Lood as i pointed out above.

It was just a terrible lack of judgement ... an error ... there were faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar better options last year to select from.
Any bets he won't follow it up with even a nomination this year??

As Mozart said ... "a slow thinking, self centered,  lazy lock."
Couldn't have said it better.

Wee cc you probably don't know this but Lood has been injured this season. We all know also that the bulle have a penchant for buying talent and then of course squandering it.
When dealing with wee cc never assume any knowledge!

Oh I see the ignorance on Lood continues......here are the facts....in the QF against Wales, Lood completely out played Charteris.....in the semi against NZ, he outplayed Whitelock who in the whole game managed all of zero metres.....these are the facts.

Lood was unbelievable in the WC, his overall stats in the comp were in the top 5 for everything.......this from a lock......hype my arse......fuck you would have to be unbelievably stupid to concluded that Lood was anything but brilliant and walked SA player of the year with ease.

Its a pity he is going to the Bulls as he is not needed there given they have superstars in the making in Jenkins and RG Snyman

It would have made more sense for him to move to the Lions who are losing Mostert

Beeno , as wee cc is only right so rarely he must use 24 hour clock , I which case he would be right only once per day
However , I agree with Moz , et. al, Lood is a lump that hasn't proven his worth against top lock like Retallick, Whitelock, etc. etzabeth is also better even though he seems out of form (& has been for a long while now.
