Habana, JP, Bismarck, Morne gone.........and rather than pausing to celebrate these players who have given us great moments, they are mostly trashed on the Board.
......
But we should just briefly recall, the team they represented was mostly ranked second in the world, first for periods and third behind Oz just after HM started. They played their last game against the ABs as their only serious challenger in the 2015 WC.
...
I wonder if we will ever be ranked second again.

Good idea for a thread
Habana - legend, one of the greatest wings ever, obviously he had speed but he was so much more than that, he had a brain, was strong defensively and was always looking for work. Joint record try holder with the other legend Jonah Lomu
Bismarck and Jannie - both brothers should be proud of their service to the Boks, Bismarck especially was a physical freak, he was like having another flanker in the team. And Jannie was ever reliable.
Morne - was never his biggest fan but you can't argue with the numerous records he has broken, that 31-19 win will go down in history.
JP - Very much never really lived up to his potential but at his best a strong runner, good on defence. A WC winner, need I say more.
Sure they probably all over stayed their welcome a little bit but they all have well over 50 caps for the boks and deserve credit.
For what it's worth, Bismarck could still do a job for us. Even if it's just mentoring Marx.

Also I get the pessimism with regards to the B oks, but we'll come back, we always do.

Deddy I salute your optimism, but things have changed.....Oz has declined along with us, but the NH teams are much improved. So many took being second best for granted, and wanted wholesale change before the WC. Well we have that now and so far it's been a huge step down. I warned of this eventuality, but right now we are taking solace in the admittedly poor coaching. The fact is we don't have one back who would make the English team......think about that.

It may well be just the usual performance drop post RWC ,the NH not having performed at all during the RWC may well have peaked last year !\And I do find along with other Kiwis ,this trashing of former champions like wee Victor rather strange ? Is it just a Saffa thingy or wot ?

Possibly Moz, but after the England disaster at 2015 RWC, had you asked which back you have taken from them the general consensus would have been no one. And there's no way that in less than 2 years they've suddenly become much better players than ours.
The coaching is a very real problem. England's backs look the business because they've got a clear, defined and well executed game plan. There's zero reason why the Springboks could not do the same thing.
Unfortunately we're facing an uphill battle already by being stopped from picking our best team due to quotas, but the fact remains we should still be able to put a team out there that looks like they know what they're doing.
They call Coetzee a Stampkar coach but that's an insult to Stampkar as what we're doing is not that, it's not running rugby, it's just a mess.
I just want a team that looks like they know what they're doing.
I'm hoping for a 3-0 french win, just so the pressure to remove Coetzee is too much for SARU to ignore. They need to go back to the drawing board, think long term.

Coetzee has been pathetic. Let's hope that's the big thing...but somehow I don't think it's the whole story.

Fats ... we're not trashing them for what they did in their day.
We're saying that they are no longer good enough ... TODAY.
There is a difference. Do try to wake up.

Whats that ya chubby sleaze are ya dribbling on Moz again?Maybe someone can translate your fatboy rantings into something intelligible then I will bother reading whatever garbage your spouting .Moz that Coetzee blokes demise would at least remove one obstacle to the rise of the Boks again would it not or is he jus t symptomatic of whatever is afflicting SA rugby these days?
