Springbok coach Allister Coetzee will most likely be forced to look abroad to bolster the squad in the wake of the embarrassing 57-0 defeat at the hands of the All Blacks in Albany this past weekend.

While the Boks have been given the week off to lick their wounds, Coetzee will be looking to bring in replacements for the injuries to Coenie Oosthuizen and Jaco Kriel ahead of the final two games in this year’s Castle Lager Rugby Championships and must surely be looking at some other chances ahead of two massive games in his tenure as Bok coach.

The damage done by Saturday’s massive defeat is still telling, but Coetzee did say on arrival back that he would take stock of the injuries and look to some players who were part of the squad in the last two seasons to see if the team could well be strengthened by their inclusion.

One of these is likely to be Bath captain Francois Louw, who has made the most turnovers in the Premiership this season while a recall for Springbok winger Ruan Combrinck can’t also be too long away.

“It was a massive setback losing Jaco Kriel, losing Coenie and Ross Cronje in the day of the test. Jaco Kriel and Siya (Kolisi) have played a fantastic sort of role with Siya being a fetcher and ball carrier and Jaco Kriel. The fetching role is quite crucial, we will be looking at what we have back home and if we don’t have, certainly we will be looking at players who have been part of this squad last year and who were part of the team at the beginning of the year, for example Francois Louw and so on. Yes we will have a look at those type of players,” Coetzee offered on returning home from the horror trip to the antipodes.

But while there were certainly players who need to come under the microscope, Coetzee would not attribute blame to individuals.

The Bok setpiece was a non-starter during the game and Malcolm Marx missed his jumpers way too many times for comfort. While the entire team didn’t have a good game, the nine missed tackles by winger Raymond Rhule are glaring errors that cannot afford to be ignored.(WHAT CANT BE IGNORED IS THE SUPREM FOOLISHNESS THAT CAUSED HIS SELECTION!)

Still, Rhule doesn’t pick himself and there were already question marks raised in Super Rugby when he ended the tournament as the player with the most missed tackles. Still the Bok management forged on, so the blame is to lie nowhere but at their doorstep.

“I don’t want to blame individuals for this. We are all in this, but the players know that. It is not the right thing to look at individuals, it is knee jerk to make wholesale changes. We will stick to our processes. I think this is a great learning experience for players to see what it takes against the best in the world under that kind of pressure and away from home.

I still feel that we have made massive strides against Australia. This team has shown massive character and we should have won that test. A couple of calls didn’t go our way in that test match and it would have been a different story altogether against New Zealand.

“The expectation will always be there, and we will always give ourselves a chance, but the reality is that with eight players coming back, and they had a good plan resting those players against Argentina, those players coming back, playing with emotion of Wayne Smith’s last game with them, being criticised for the narrow wins they had, it just worked for them.” Coetzee said he could only offer Bok supporters hope and would “focus on the rainbows, not the storms” – singling out Andries Coetzee as one of the positives from the whitewash.

“It is tough, it isn’t easy, but I don’t think Rome was ever built in one day. When you go through a transition, mistakes were made and you are learning from it, and all of a sudden you have a completely new team this year, I believe what I need to focus on is not on the storms, but on the rainbow also. Andries Coetzee was outstanding in Saturday’s test match. He almost didn’t put a foot wrong, maybe shot out of line once but other than that a clinical performance. And the way we’ve covered those kicks through Courtnal as well. For players who played for the first time against New Zealand, they’ve shown courageous form and way of play and I’m proud of that.”(Mampara talk!)

The Bok coach may be clutching at straws in the aftermath of the Boks heaviest defeat at the hands of the All Blacks but Albany can never be reclaimed.

The bigger question is what his plan is now, and which personnel he will use to get the Boks out of the deep hole they have landed themselves in.

When Louw did play last year he was really showing he is way past it he was really deficient ion performance.   If he wants a decent loosie call-uop - why not Coetzee.
He should also look at the wings and especially look at the centers and half-backs as well.   Pollard should be sent back to play CC rugby before being recalled to the squad.  I think Marnitz Boshoff is at this stage a huge improvement on Pollard.   I wouyld also have a good hard look at the crashballing and mindless center combination.
And the scrum, mies is really piss=poor.   Outside of Crionje the support ios really weak.  Paige was constantly the Bulls bench scrummie and he is not anything to talk about.   I think they must forget about Hougaard and call up Schreuder to the squad.
I don't think that action will be taken as to Jantjies - he remains a player who is short on t hinking ability and that becomes poignant when he is under pressure.

I'll be Blouwn away if they take such a massive step back.
Unless Kriel is still injured, Louw must stay far far away from the bok jas!
Fok, let Brussouw come back man!

He's a 32 year old retreaded blindside flank long past his best.

It's just another stupid decision from Tottie ... shows his desperation. We'll get some long winded story from Tottie about how well he's doing up north ... blah, blah, blah ... much like we keep hearing from Stipid.

What next ... Ruan Pienaar to replace Cronje?

Brussow is a much better option but he too is a little long in the tooth ... 31 years old ... however, he at least knows how to play on the openside.

Our best "fetcher" in this years SR was Cloete. He's young and has a lot to offer. He should have been in the mix already.

Jean-Luc Du Preez didn't have a good day on Saturday and I see most are writing him off. Unbelievable.

We have quality locks and because of it can select an out and out loose trio, I still believe our best mix would be Cloete, Kriel and Whiteley and I would have Du Preez as cover.

Mostert is a lock ... Mostert is a lock ... Mostert is a lock ... are you listening SharkSh!t??

It's beginning to sound like a patch-up job when a complete overhaul is needed. A good start would be to boycott all test matches until a reputable coach is selected. Oh alright, so let's say by divine intervention Rhule and a few other plodders get axed.....so what?....it's like moving the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Yes ... well put.

I like that ... patching here and there isn't going to do the trick when you in fact need to replace the entire tube.

Too many weaknesses were exposed on Saturday and patching one hole won't bring any kind of strength. The only way is to commit to an overhaul. In other wortds ... start from scratch.

Getting rid of Tottie would be a great start.

It's time for Bok fans to unite and say enough is enough.....we're sick of the sh!t. Start with SARU, they need a kick up the ass and boycott all test matches until a reputable coach is selected . I wouldn't mind seeing Ackerman or Deon Davids as Bok coach.

Hahaha @ Denny. Never gonna happen! Watch, the home tests against Aus and NZ will basically be sold out. White South Africans are waaaaay too stupid to stand together for a good cause.
If you recall, I did not watch any tests last year on telly, and only went to the Aus test at Loftus because it was a freebie. You know how many of my rugby crazed friends joined me in my boycott? Fark all! How many people on this site boycotted? Fark all!
It is just gonna be more of the same unfortunately.

It is very likely that even if the tickets are sold out - that what happened in 2012 in PE will recur - the Springboks will be booed by the crowd.   That is especially if they struggle against Australia and in the NZ test.
Toetie, Toetsie or Tottie will learn a biter lesson sooner rather than later,   That is that SA rugby  supporters recognize BS when they see it and he cannot bluff them ad infinitum.   He is going the Stormers way in stupidity in team selection and that is a major problem.
So the Polluters claim that Venter is blamed for the poor defense on Saturday - but t he idiots do not realize that no coach can turn Sh!t into butter and that what Venter has to work with is selected by Coetzee.   What a farce the idiots really are.

The all black pulverised us at the gainline around the fringes, and what once our bread and butter are now something we completely thrown away.
The All Blacks scored 3 tries by using the likes of Squires just to smash us around the goal line. I could almost see enjoyment on their faces as they had no fear of taking it up. You can't expect the likes of Etzebeth and Mostert to carry the physical burden nor Marx.
We need some big boys in the back row and the likes of Cassiem or Kolisi simply won't cut it. Neither having a power puff prop in Trevor Nyakana coming on for 20 minutes only to flow around like a big fat marsh mellow.
I'm not sure calling Louw now would help us, he was hanging in by thread a while back under Meyer and now we all of a sudden have no physical loose forwards.
Kriel, Kolisi, Quagga Smit, Cassiem, Whitely are all flare players. In test matches there are very little room to have all 3 as your back row.
We need to get that aura back of being physical but not let it be our only weapon.
We also need to learn how to cope if a team get an upper hand over us in that area.
Our back 3 has completely let us down, I think bringing in Combrink will help and maybe getting Le Roux back, he is the only player, that can ignite a counter attack.

This is a fact...
Francois Louw, who has made the most turnovers in the Premiership this season...
(Recorded, analysed, verified)

This is an opinion...
When Louw did play last year he was really showing he is way past it...

Spot the difference...

Now, let's look at it logically... If he was "way past it", (from the opinion), it means there is no way that he could be able to return to any form at any stage in future (being the future relative to last year)... However the fact that he made the most turnovers this year (which falls within last year's future) proves beyond any doubt that he could not have been "way past it".

It therefore logically follows that the opinion is 100% incorrect...

Funny thing though is that we've seen this all before.

Players like Pienaar doing well up north and then flopping badly when recalled.

Time and again ... we're told of these heroes doing so well up north ... that they are the answer to all our woes ... ask Stipid, he's been there biggest spokesman ... calling and calling ... Alberts, Pienaar, Morne, HouGat, Fats Fransie, Louw, Matfield, Steenkamp, Jaque Fourie and the list just goes on and on ... then when they get here, they fail ... again ... and Stipid goes quiet for a spell.

LOL!!

You guys remember how he sang Morne's praises for months ... and then after the record score against the All Blacks last year, he suddenly went quiet. Morne was no longer the answer. From hero ... to bozo.

Everyone of Stipids heroes has crashed and burned.

We all know this. How many more times must we go through this? How many more times must HouGat and co fail before we stop with this absurdity?

Well ... it seems that the time has arrived for another bit of Stipid stupidity. He's been calling for Pienaar ... and I'm sure he's delighted to see the elderly Louw back in the mix.

So what now? Louw comes back ... to play where ... 6? ...7? What about our "hero" Kolisi? He's a rugby god isn't he? Right, SharkSh!t? Will he be replaced by Louw? Will he be called to play at 7? Who's going to play at 8? Cassiem? Du Preez? Does Tottie even know?

LOL!!!

Louw is the latest flavour of the day ... our saviour ... a hero ... apparently ... and he's going to save the Goats ... all the while ... Tottie is still calling the shots.

I would have Pienaar, Louw and Frans back in a heartbeat....men vs boys. Morne beat Oz last year ....and then became a convenient scapegoat when rhe ABs murdered us, just how unfair that was is readily apparent after the loss on Saturday. But no matter, I'm sure he is used to nobodies like you attacking him. .. You have strong views....which amusingly seem to change every day. Do you have the guts to give us your latest 23 to play Oz, share the wisdom.

 CC
There can be no arguments about the failures - yet Fat Fransie's name is mentioned again.   That is despite his constant failures last year    We all know the man polluter's norms.  F#ck performance - it is of no value in team selection - the only norm is the older the better,
So what can these repeat polluters bring on site - misrepresentations and BS,
Take for instance one of the second polluters statement about Louw.   He is so good in the NH - but when tried out last year he was a failure.   Can remember one test where he played for 18 minutes before going off with an injury.   In that test in 18 minutes he made 3 tackles - ie 1 tackle in every 6 minutes on average.   His replacement Kriel made 18 tackles representing a tackle once in every 3,6 minutes.
A few years ago Labuschagne made most tackles in Super Rugby and came third in the number of ball possession turnovers - but that was rubbished by the same polluter who is now quoting the Louw comments above.  Fact is the number of turnovers by Labuschagne was double the number made by Louw and the number of tackles five times higher than Louw's, but that does not count ever according to the recognized site idiots.
And then they expect people must believe their BS.   What a farce!!!!!!
You can now understand my reason for constant pollution warnings.

I take it you do still remember that kick he made that cost us the match against Oz?

All that hard work they put in to secure an away win ... and in steps Morne ...

Seems he's failed us on more than one ocassion.

Scapegoat? I think he not. He deserved all the crirism he got.

I'll show you mine if you show me yours, Stipid!! You first!!

These postings from Turncoat . June 06, 2017, 08:47:28 Come now, BlueBok ... you and the rest of the posters raved about this slack jawed misfit. As far as I can remember it was only Mozart and myself that saw him for the useless entity that he is. He's biggest fans were Comrade and Dave. I hope he starts for the Goats. Rather bring the talented Du Toit on in the last 5 minutes where he can do no harm to the French. ............. 'RE: Lomp anybody? June 06, 2017, 11:04:10 Mozart got a few calls wrong ... in my opinion ... but Lomp isn't one of them. He also pegged Jesse Kriel ... a favourite of yours, Comrade ... as well as De Allende and Kolisi ... both Bok musts in your opinion. Apart from all the repetitive nonsense we've been listening to about, Alberts, Morne and Victor these last 5 years ... who have you pegged as useless ... in fact, who have you pegged as worthy of the Green and Gold?? Anyone??' ............................ ............... October 04, 2015, 07:03:43 De Allende is a world class center. He showed that once again yesterday. Powerful man. He's going to go far. Kriel on the other hand was rather disappointing ... again. He just looks out of place at 13. I hope Meyer's replacement will make the necessary adjustment and select a specialist 13, instead of yet another plastered over outside back. Congratulations to the Goats. They looked good against Scotland's second stringers. Oh and Dave ... I'm sold ... Lood is a class act. He has impressed and deserves his spot in the Goats team. I hope he can deliver the same standard of play against the stronger teams. Both he and Eben had crackers yesterday. I think the Goats' lock pair is no longer an issue. Now to move on to other problem areas. Jannie is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay over due for replacement. How much longer do we as rugby supporters have to endure this chump?? ............. Bwaaaaaahahaha! Sure Turncoat looks like you were among the first who warned about Lomp and Tractor Allende....not! ...... Hilariously it's Game, Set and Match.

That will be no salvation in players or coaches.

SA was that heavily beaten because NZ ABs are that much collectively superior.
SA has no team. Only a team can challenge the ABs.

 Blikkies
Vermeulen is as far as I could be out until 2018.   However Vermeulen has been out two frequently with injury and from the matches of Toulon I have seen was so-so as an 8.
Agree with you about Vermaak.  He is not the same player he used to be and I have frankly not seen anything really special from him.  He is too old to change his way of playing  rugby.
I actually would prefer Vorster at 12.   He is a tricky and  a clever playerusing a lot of variation absent in almost all SA 12's.
