Ludeke siad Matfield will improiov

"Bulls coach Frans Ludeke believes Victor Matfield will improve as the season progresses as he continueshis comeback.

The Springbok legend, who came out of retirement last month, appeared off the bench in the second half of Saturday's loss to the Sharks in a tough start to the Bulls'  Super Rugby campaign.

Ludeke, whose side scored a late consolation through Jono Ross, was  satisfied with Matfield.

"I thought that the longer he played, the better he became," said Ludeke.

"But he's a classy player and had immediate impacts in the line-out. He will just get better as the competition goes on, that I have no doubt about."

"This must be the easiest way the Sharks have ever beaten us," added the coach.

"We conceded so many soft turnovers and gave away two easy tries. That gave them the momentum for the game. So we lost against ourselves I feel, particularly in that first half."

Now lets get to Matfield - his line out work was nothing to note.   The first line out he was penalised for trying to take Du Toit out  in the air and for the rest of the games he took two line out balls,  

Matfield was not really an improvement on the Bulls performances up front and if that is what he is capable of  and he does not improve as the season goes on - he should never gave attempted a cone back.  From what I have seen - he was bog ordinary abd bit really better than Willemse - who obviously has more muscle  power than Matfield has.

Dof Doos

The world of Dof Doos is so unfair - we have to accept that.   Remember the 11th commandment - Thou shalt not be caught out.

He should have stayed out of the game.   He looked comfortable?   Sure he did - but it was not displayed in his performance.   One thing I was happy about - he was not moonlighting in the backline this time around - but that is likely to change as well.  

 Dof Doos

When did it happen in the case of Du Toit - or was it another thing you dreamed up?   It was bloody clear in he Matfield case and he was penalized - while both the line-judge and the ref missed it in a case which you think happened.   Dof Doos at his always wrong stance.

We are not struggling at lock at all and to suggest we are tells me you are way out of tune with the current lock situation.

It does not get better than Etzebeth and Steph du Toit........but there is depth in Flip, Lood (another great game this weekend) and the impressive Jacques du Plessis playing 7 for the Bulls.
