The richest individuals in South Africa are now Africans, so if anyone
should be funding the player development- it should be these business
leaders and the politicians.
Supposedly, SA people are african so indeed. Now, if that means non white people, it might be the case, would not make any bet on it considering the level of disinformation and misinformation carried on this board.
Dunno if there are business people in SA. Doubtful or lacking any entrepreneurship.
It takes like business acumen to see that SA rugby is an industry of debt. It brings nothing but costs.
Business people would acknowledge the situation and work to terminate to turn toward profitable industry. In sports, that could mean football as the world market is huge (rugby world is tiny) and transfers command fees.
Business people would lobby for the termination of rugby in SA and the resources reallocated toward football which is a potential market to recoup spendings.
Build academies, connect with NH clubs and scouts, qualify to the WC and put players in the windowshop. That would be business.
On this board, people often bring up the presence of 300 SA rugby players outside SA.
If they were football players, all of them commanding a transfer fee, that could have meant a lot of money brought back to SA.
Instead, they are rugby players, which means only costs , spendings, squandering of resources.
No business people in SA or if there are, their main achievement is to characterize rugby as a sink, a way to lose money they do not have.
