Magnificent All Blacks Sevens take Glasgow

New Zealand have won their fourth Cup title of the year in Glasgow. An awesome performance in the Final saw them run in eight tries against Canada to win 54-7.

It was the North Americans first Cup decider, but they were outclassed against a firing All Blacks Sevens team, with Ben Lam and Scott Curry both scoring a double in the closing match of the Glasgow Sevens.

- Cup final: All Blacks Sevens 54 Canada 7
- Third place: Fiji 17 Scotland 10
- Plate final: England 26 Kenya 5
- Bowl final: Argentina 14 France 20
- Shield final: Japan 12 Wales 29

Captain DJ Forbes was outstanding in the final and it was an utterly relentless performance against a gallant Canadian side.

New Zealand will surely win the World Series title next week, they lead by 19 points from South Africa overall.

Forbes agreed.

"It was pretty special and the team has a lot of character," he said after the match.

"The rain falls into our hands a little bit. We still have a job to do in London but you'd think we can do it."

The win leaves New Zealand 19 points ahead of second-place South Africa in the Series standings, and on course to win a 12th title in 15 years.

congrats to the mighty NZ 7s team,

blitz boks have been pushing us hard at the very beginning, but just as i always said, they cannot compete at the top level competitively the way NZ always have.

NZ 7s team finished thier lowest ever position of 4th in the tokyo 7s, this was thier worst placing since dubai of 2011.

meanwhile the blitzboks worst have been 5th in hong kong and now 8th in scotland.
huge difference between what the two teams do when the winning the big is no longer viable.

 Moz they need to recall what happened to Lomu.
I watched the Blitzbokke losing to keya theywere real bad. Couldnt catch a ball for one.Not a Super 15 class player among them! We need to take the 7 man code more seriously and whipping the wee abs woudl be a formality. As it is they were becoming out bunnies.Hahahahahahaha hahahaha

@mozter,
was mrs mozter taking a little too much interest in the sevens???

not to worry, its not surprising that the only ones not complaining are the hetro woman,

@beeno,
7s has progressed enough now that best 7s players in the worlds would IMO beat 7 of the best XV man game players of the world.

blitbokke did look shocking though, conditions like those wouldnt be the norm in SA though, but still a pale version of the dangerous blitzboks we saw at the start of the season.

also keep an eye out on branco du preez, dude is class and would easily make any spXV saffa team, but then again any walking kiwi could do that,,,

 Blitzbokke should contract Rasta. First ref I saw, being at the tryline with the try scorer, myles ahead of the defending chasers!  :-)

@mozter,

u must be a little confused, those are NZ rugby players, not south african rugby players with their well documented performance enhancing drug programme.
i mean geez, u boys start em young with ur advanced programme, u could even teach austrlian sport a thing or two,

 Geez you SA Bloggers are embarassing, can you for once be Unanimous for once? If it's not oh bent kiwis refs, its conspiracy theories, all cheating, or now drug taking. It's pathetic, and I don't think you realize how bad it is particularly on this site, show some class in defeat because its a huge problem.

Relax, it was just a little joke. Sushi, NouseFree and JW dish it out quite readily....nobody takes it seriously.

No worries 3ku1, SA posters are not used to seeing rugby players that are in shape - they have reached a point where fat, waddle & roll are the norm. Ask Clevermike what he thinks of Steyn, Alberts, etc.
