So the Frogs escape a beating! I don't like how this cancellation story has played out. If Ireland go out because of this, it will majorly taint the credibility of the competition. It was obvious you get this kind of weather at this time of year in Japan, you have simply got to sort this out! Not having England play France is a big loss; That's one of the biggest encounters in the pool stages. Bummer.

As I understand Ireland are through to the quarters if games are cancelled. They would get 2 points, which should be enough- assuming Scotland also get 2 points. It seems Scotlands game is more likely to be cancelled than Ireland.

That would mean Japan goes through to the quarters in the first place, and therefore face the Boks. (The home team, so there is certainly some contention here).

There should be some plan to let teams that have a realistic chance of qualifying for the quarter's play. (E.g. Scotland).

Italy is making a song and dance about not playing New Zealand, but to be honest, no one really gives a crap about that game, and it is irrelevant.

I'm sure the ABs would have liked to play Italy and it would have been great entertainment. ABs would also have benefited from another warm up game.

Pity that Parisse won't get the send off he deserves. No final Hurrah!

@Just_win, are you called no one, because I confirmed everyone else does not care...  No, it is just not critical....
For Scotland, it is a total disaster if they do not get a fair chance to play Japan.

Lizatjie

So you are back with your old name,  Welcome - but expect to get your ass kicked constantly to help get rid of prevailing idiocy on your part.

SB

The Irish got beaten by the Japanese - so what makes Scotland so special.   Anyway they would need a bonus point win with a margin bigger than 7 to get into contention and that is highly unlikely to happen.

Xavi

I m always amazed by the persistence  of players to wait for the WC to retire,  Parisse was a great player as recent as three years ago - nut I watched him in games and it is no wonder Stade Francais did not renew their contract with him - he us n ot a shadow of the player he used to be.

It's really simple....a WC team should have it's fate settled on the field of play. These cancellations are necessary for safety....but alternative venues and dates should have been built into the system. And made clear to the fans when they bought their tickets.

Exactly, any scenario whereby a team cannot determine the outcome of a fixture is unacceptable. We were discussing the potential for weather affected games long before the World Cup kicked-off, surely there must have been a better solution put forward. As it stands, it has the potential to quite dramatically alter the complexion of this World Cup. A World Cup that has largely been underwhelming.

Yes indeed. One could look at it this way......half the games in this tedious pool phase involves a team or teams that have no chance of winning the WC. The whole format is designed to give these no hopers a chance.....but the hopes of Scotland, Italy and the path of Ireland, a potential winner, aren't worth an alternative date/venue. Nuts!

Parisse has asked whether the game would have been cancelled had the ABs needed 4 or 5 points to make the quarters.

Never in a thousand years! Why not just put NZ in charge of world rugby? That way at least they would be accountable. Now the manipulation takes place behind a cloak of anonymity. Hell every TMO seems to be a NZer....directing a Frog ref! The eye in the sky!

Yes, I would have liked to have seen France vs England . I like watching the ABs play even if it’s a forgone conclusion. Hansen & the ABs don’t seem too bothered & rightly emphasize player & crowd safety. Still I would like to have seen all games played.

The wee abs were only to happy to cancel as they were worried what the Italians might do to their fragile pack. Hahahahaha.

Yes its seems every effort is being made to protect the wee abs from the Italians who were only to willing to play!

Haha Beeno, don't worry the hapless Boks may get some expert Kiwi  from Jamie Joseph if some of your fellow Bok supporters get their way. Kiwis lending a helping hand to the helpless lol
