He seems to take ages to throw the ball. Who is making the lineout calls? Although some of his throws also go right over the lineout. ... Only Lead Head Dejager calls for the ball to be thrown over the lineout.

To me he is already to bulked up so much, I'm not sure tighthead isn't the better option. If Smit could swotch Marx who seems so much stronger and a powerhouse in the scrums, has to be a candidate. But truth to tell most of these positional changes end up failing...better for him to improve his throwing.

SB
Marx has strength but not enough pace to be a loosie, The problem remains that he gets the blame for throw-ins in one game when that fact is that the ball was thrown at the wrong players based on calls made.
I think that the problem probably is with the calls an the match strategy as a whole, while the selection of Cassiem came back to bite the Springboks. Cassiem was selected to be a line-out option and he was NOT up to standard,

John Smit was actually a tight head who was switched to hooker early on in his career by, guess who.....? Jake White who also switched James Dalton from flanker to hooker.

What has the above diversion to do with Marx and the present situation? Th at is why it is called pollution.

Ag Ou bitterbal, this just proves that you decide to attack and rubbish without actually reading the relevant posts. Or is it just the usual lack of comprehension skills kicking in again? I suggest you take the rest of the evening and see if there is any earlier reference to John Smit which could have sparked my remark. Or take the rest of the week if one evening leaves you with too little time to sort out this little conundrum. Feel free to give me a shout if it is above your pay grade.

Malcolm Marx has shown problems at the lineout before. His first tests for the Boks- he also threw the ball over the lineout. His style is something between a Shotput and Javelin thrower.
On the positive side, he can throw the ball far, given how many times he has overthrown the lineout.
Although I have seen games when his throwing looks very good.

He had a bad day at the office...like almost everyone else. It's part of his game he needs to work on. He'll get better. No need to stuff up his career now by moving him out of position. Smit was a unique case.
