The following from News24:-
"Former national team coach Nick Mallett believes Franco Smith will be an asset to the Springbok management team.

Smith, who coached the Cheetahs to Currie Cup glory this season, will assist the Springbok backs as a skills coach on their year-end tour to Europe.

His Cheetahs side won the Currie Cup this past weekend when they thumped the Blue Bulls 36-16 in the final in Bloemfontein.

Mallett previously also coached Italy and said Smith had impressed him then when he coached Italian side Treviso.

“He did a great job with Treviso. Italian teams playing the RoboDirect, as it was called back then, always used to finish 13th and 14th. When he was coach, Treviso slowly made their way up the standings. I was the Italy coach then, and took about eight players from Treviso because they played so well under him. His players were always fit, innovative and defensively solid. Franco is an outstanding coach and I think he is an asset to the Springbok setup,” Mallett said in the SuperSport studio after Saturday’s final.

Mallett is also impressed by what he’s seen at management level from the Cheetahs in recent times.

“One of the key elements of player retention is to create a good culture from the leadership down. The more trust between the director of rugby, the head coach and the assistant coaches, the better chance you have of keeping your players. There was a period in the Cheetahs’ recent history when they lost players like Trevor Nyakane and Adriaan Strauss, who at the time asked for an enquiry into the running of the franchise. And you can tell when things like that happen, there is discomfort.

‘Rory Duncan, Franco Smith and the rest of the young coaching staff turned things around. It didn’t happen immediately. They struggled in Super Rugby, let’s not beat around the bush. But the Currie Cup has really given them a lease of life. Let’s hope that what happened with the Lions under Johan Ackermann, will happen with the Cheetahs.”

Mozart will obviously dismiss the above commets - like he did so often in the past - but I think Mallet is  in this case very near to he mark,   Coetzee is a total dud when it comes to backline play and Stick is as well - so we might just see some improvement  in that Department of the game.

Another player under attack from clueless Mozart is Venter.  Franco Smith commented that venter will bring a new and refreshing aspec t to Springbok backline play and I can see a vast improvement in using of him at 13.

I can't wait to see Venter in action!
But we still got Stick and Coetzee crammed in there, so I don't know how that'll influence his traditional game...we'll see!

Neither Venter nor Segeal will succeed. They both have fatal flaws, Venter is not fast enough. Segeal is too small to take the high ball and not particularly fast....he was gassed by Hodge in Super Rugby. Players with fatal flaws never survive....but they do waste valuable time.

Do you know how fast Venter really is - or is it another invention by you to discredit the player?

Yep I do....unlike you I retain information. Here was my post after observing Venter being horribly skinned for pace. The Francois Venter file April 23, 2016, 00:49:28 A decent S15 player and leader, is this chap and are many of his contemporaries really international class? Today against an aggressive Rebels centre pair, he made only 8 of his 12 tackle attempts. And was horribly skinned by Hodge for the match deciding try. On attack, time and again he crowded the players outside him, never beat a tackle and frankly looked very Stepfonteinish. My conclusion is he may play a few tests but won't survive in international rugby. Sadly that is true of many of the players Fantasy Rugby selectors are so sure about.

I see a lot of bullshit...

Don't speak ahead of time; let them play. If they do turn out not to be up to the challenge, then you can talk...until then, give them a chance!

(It doesn't help having Stick there to be honest)

Mozart...never understand how you see individual players...you clash with most of us and like traditional staid old farts...cannot recognise inventive new players...stick with the past...Morne, Francois Steyn...say no more one of the Jannie Engelbrecht supporters of old days...yes had his days in those days but he was an overstayer...you seem to have this thing or complex about old veterans after sell buy date...even when Jannie was fading just like Matfield did last year....

To change the topic;

Venter is great, glad he made it...but the ommission of Raymond Rhule just shows how thick selection is in this country.

So I'm not allowed to express an opinion, even though I pegged Allende, Stepfontein, JJ, Mapoe, Kriel andTaute. So typical of the herd mentality, dont tell me something aberrant please. This forum is for expressing opinions and making projections. If you want to just be a groupie, go onto the Cheetahs site. My view of Venter is backed by more than 50 years of watching test rugby.....and I have never seen a player without pace succeed at 13. Actually the only outside back I have seen succeed without pace is Campesi....and Venter is no Campesi.

Hey, Mozart I try to communicate and raise questions not insult you and pretend to know questions that nobody in this forsaken country knows, such questions should not come from slight knowledge whilst living in foreign enviroments...I'm not in Russia at the moment...surprising though there is an Irish pub in Moscow where I can watch rugby but not Currie Cup...my mother in law passed away so I will be back there again in a few days...Orthodox funerals take a bit of time and although I don't agree with the rituals I always show respect with my wifes relatives.

The whole point here is about your sentiments to veteran players...like the players who have overstayed their mark because of the lack of "up and coming" players...rugby like all sport is progressive...it's a very young man's sport...stars disappear overnight and it has no place with sentiment.

Unlike some of your critics, I don't have the disrespect of any rugby player that still has the character and guts to play the game but ego which is overfed in USA mentality is something that must be quenched with fact, truth and humility...you live in a country that lives on this, fast and instant food and neglected children in mega rich suburbia...too much money and too little time fancy condos...don't tell it's not true...Hollywood displays and plays the devils advocate on these issues that trouble and raise issues in the typical borgeois/standard American home.

But I'm straying...you live in Mars we live in Venus...rugby is played in Venus...you have lost what happens here...maybe grid iron has replaced rugby...a game only Americans understand...invented a long time ago by immigrants who resented the island of English origins...

Horribly skinned for pace - just a statement based on one incident according to you,   You have misconstrued so many occurrences in rugby and has been found out so many times - who can ever believe you?
You can remember one incident to determine the pace of Venter - but remember no such incident of severely deficient pace in the case of Fat Fransie.   Come now - be fair - Fat Fransie is far slower than Venter - yet you preach about him continuously.

What about the feeble tackle by Goosen on Kerevi - BSter - when he in fact made a try-saving tackle to start a very long list of outright lies.

A totally feeble tackle.....Kerevi was running right against the touchline. A decent tackle would have put him right into touch.....in the end Kerevi was carrying the ball in the wrong hand, and was just adjudged to have touched the line in the act of grounding. But if you disagree doesnt make that a lie, merely a different opinion. A lie is what Pakie proved you doing with de Jongh's stats. A lie is saying Jacobs performed poorly in a match he never played in....as you did Poof.

Lo ok BSter - the lie was exposed and by defending the lie you have become even more  despicable.    If it is an opinion - it must show how utterly poor and hate-prone your opinions are.
The De Jongh's fable you came up with was a lie as well.   You listed the number of players missing 2 or more tackles and did not include De Jongh.   When caught out you claimed that his stats were changed after your initial posting - his being the only stats that were changed.   However, I posted a thread before yours where the De Jongh missed tackles were already listed - so you lied about the change to cover up your leaving him off your list.  Then we have the other classic - how De Jongh was organizing the defense - covering up the fact that he missed more than 38% of his tackles in that game.
Incidentally your ass kreep Pakie has not proven anything.    He did not notice that I referred to the performances in  Super Rugby insofar as the defense of Fat Fransie and useless De Jongh is concerned.   This one has a long history as well so I would not extend that one.
Lets face it you are despicable and a disgrace on this site.

Look guys, I  watched the CC final and to me the Venter with the 9 on his back was the best Venter and the best backline player on the pitch.

Yeah, he's pretty good, as he always been throughout the season! Shame that he's white, if he was black like Paige it would have been an instant selection...

Look Queer the way I see it you should be happy I credited him with a feeble tackle on Kerevi, he missed the only other tackle he tried to make in the game.

Kerevi gets the ball near the 22, Goosen has the angle on him and its clear he should be tackled. But Goosen hangs back allowing him to get close to the 5 metre mark, and then makes contact just outside the 5 metre line. But he doesnt go low to make a definitive tackle ....he goes high and tries to attack the ball. Kerevi makes a full 5 metres in Goosen's tender care, while Goosen is snatching at the ball. What was a clean tackle opportunity 5 metres out is now touch and go. But fortunately Kerevi is distracted by Goosen's burrowing for the ball and pulls it away towards the touch.....and rolls his lower body as he tries to free the ball ....and as he grounds the ball he touches the sidelline. It was not really a tackle in the normal sense, more of a ball wrestle which by sheer luck worked out okay. The truth is it was 2 inches or a micro second in timing from being a try.....when a straight forward tackle would have eliminated the risk. Feeble stuff.

Thiis is the standard Mozart BS interpretation - warped beyond believe.   That description is so full of holes it must ne lunacy to come up with it.   Was Goosen playing at center or full back.  Kerevi got the ball and where are the center defenders?
Must Goosen rushed up to take over the defensive role of the centers leaving the rest of the defense in shatters?
It is the above kind of impression you have the cheek to put on this site that makes it so unbelievable  done by a person with zero knowledge or rugby - or it was an outright lie which is equally likely.
If Morne Steyn made that tackle we would have had columns of praise songs from you about how good the tackle was.   So we have seen another input of utter and unbelievab le BS from you.  Why don't you go and hide in shame writing such crap and expecting people to believe it.
A try-saving tackle is never a feeble tackle - accept that and we may get some logic into that empty rugby skull of yours.      You should also apologize for yet another of your lies on this site.

So fullbacks are not supposed to tackle centres? Who knows where kriel was....it's irrelevant. Goosen in his role as last defender had to make the tackle....and how he did it is accurately described above. I never said he missed the tackle, I said he made a feeble tackle and got lucky......as always accurate to the smallest detail. You have been whining about this for weeks and finally got me to describe what happened....live with your egg big mouth.

Don't be a bloody continuous idiot.   Fullbacks should be cover defendants - not first line defenders.    You are a f#cking liar in extreme - the tackle prevented a try being scored - if that is a feeble tackle you are as per normal lying and your accuracy is a joke on this site.  If one accept what garbage you write as accurate - one must have their head read.
