MALLETT TURNS DOWN SHARKS?

John Plumtree's job appears to be under serious threat after Nick Mallett was approached about his availability to coach the Sharks.

Mallett told City Press newspaper that he was not interested in the job and was happy to continue in his role as a SuperSport analyst.

 It's obvious he has his eye on the Springbok's "After that I may be interested in returning to coaching with an international team"

What a load of ignorant twaddle - Mallet has matured as a person and as a coach. Man Sharks would hav been VERY lucky to get him. The reason that the Sharks approached him is that unlike the nutters making these comments - they KNOW he is a  fine coach.

What makes Mallett a good coach? Surely not his results with Italy. They had close to the worst success ratio in his time. Surely not his track record with the Boks either. People are being fooled by the winning streak. Everybody forgets what happened after that winning streak was ended and what led to the end of the winning streak. For me, he is a loud mouth. That is why he enjoys his job at Supersport. He can sit back and criticise everybody left right and centre and be controversial as well. In fact the more loudmouthed he is the more Supersport will support and pay him because that is how the media works.

John Smit has done nothing yet. He is only starting on 1 July. Mark my words. Mallett will not coach SA at any time soon, if ever again. What has he achieved as a coach after all? He started of his tenure as a Bok coach on a high and gradually dragged them down, making some really stupid decisions in the end until they had to use some stupid little technicality to get rid of him. He did nothing, zero, bokkerol with Italy. He had one of the worst records in the history Italian international rugby.

Mallet would have been a good coach for the Sharks. He has developed into a mature man and has rid himself of past mistakes and inborn Saffa prejudices…a weakness in a country like South Africa prone to provincialism, and racial discrimination…even schoolism (if I can use that term). The tendancy in this country to group sectors. The inability to recognize individualism. This predominates today because favouritism has been shown in another form of apartheid…the curse of black empowerment which is nothing short of favouritism. This has resulted in the extreme over- patronising of our fellow black men and is a complete red herring to confuse the fairness of individual ability whether you are Coloured, White or Asian. This anomaly is felt by those honest and true people that are African. The true African disrespects over patronizing…I’m talking about those who have integrity. The stronger ones also stand up against this…it is only the weak and ignorant that do not understand it. The powerful and corrupt in government exploit this with deception, propaganda and lies. The problem in SA national coaching is that 4 years is all you're got to get results...building a side takes longer. Nick's refusal about taking up the post has something to do with SARU...he just feels that the lack of integrity there...your'e a hero one day and the following you're a villian. We're a country of scape goats...I believe even Naas refused to coach because he understands the dirty politics that infects our integrity and fairness of standards and unreasonable expections in limited time. As I said you are either a hero or a villian in a short term .
