Libbok had probably his best game for the Boks today. It was a solid all-round performance, and my preferred choice over Pollard.(Pollard has to prove form, and he may be injured already)
The Boks play better with Esterhuizen at 12. Who was that other guy ? Damon...? De Alamo...? Can't remember.

Yeah, what a player. He always gets over the advantage line and creates so much space for his 10. He has really good hands too and pretty fast for a big unit.

Don't forget how well Harlequins have been performing. Marcus Smith looks amazing, but only because Andre is there, creatung those holes for him
He must run the right lines to give the 10 that option to pass to...having said that, Manie makes a lot of players look good too.
The 10-12 axis is a combination, so of course each has an influence on the other.
For starters a 12 should give the flyhalf an option to pass to - or at the very least draw defenders.
That includes angled runs, varying depth and running onto the ball at pace, communicating with the outside backs etc.
Not standing stationary and flat on the line of advantage to carry it up as a Loose forward (Ala Delande). It is too predictable to defend against, and cuts of the outside backs.

I thought you played 12 Dave. Of course a 12 can make a 10 look good.
If he's forcing 2 or more defenders to focus on him there's gonna be space elsewhere and likewise it gives the 10 a "safety" option that's gonna get gainline parity at least or breaks in the best case. Not even mentioned the wrap plays and dummy lines it could lead to.
Maybe you just weren't a very good 12.

I will say it again Manie is yet another Elton and nothing more.
The game was ruled by the SA forwards who overpowered the AB's forwards from the start.
If Pollard is not fit to play we have a 50/50 shot at winning and nothing more.

Manie already has more good tests behind his name than Elton could ever scratch together. I think Elton is still on one.
Elton was never in a team that beat Wales by 36 points and NZ by 28 points...and he won the URC and helped take his team to consecutive URC finals...it's not a fluke, he's good, but I don't think he'll be allowed to play his game during the RWC, but who k ows?

Elton is an excellent provincial player. He can't lift this game beyond that. We've seen that time after time after time.
I'm not saying Libbok is the answer for Bok 10, but he has done enough at URC level to be given a serious shot...he deserves a chance...and other than kicking poorly at goal, he looked the part till now.
PS, Stormers has been clearly the best SA side the last two seasons by some distance, it's obvious that they will be well represented in the Bok squad.
