He played outside center while in school, but he was the team pole kicker.
Too small for test rugby at 13 though.

When he first played for the Bulls, he was a winger if I recall. He was good, but not really mentioned as a potential Springbok wing.

Then he went to the Sharks, where I think he played wing and fullback - but he did not get that many games.
Then at the Stormers when moving to 10, is when he really pushed himself into the Bok equation.

His attack is as good as any Bok flyhalf - but s till have to see how he goes in a very tight test match with limited space.

Guy is very sharp. I'm cool with everything he does but his defensive ability isn't the best. My feeling is that he needs to adopt Willie's more classical tackling style. Lolz, he was taking the absolute piss with some of those touch-finders against the ABs. Numerous times he went from halfway to the 5m. Considering how he was under pressure for his kicking, it felt like he made a huge statement with that performance. As I mentioned previously, every time the camera was on him he looked extremely up for it. As the saying goes, it's very hard not to support a guy that rises, or in Manie's case, smashes through adversity. Swys and co said the Boks need quicker recycling after the tackle if they want the best out of Manie. I tend to agree. We should do everything in our power to compound his "best in position" distribution and decision making.

Yes, his pass is his best weapon.
