very strong squad to take on the yanks and canucks, am looking forward to watching these matches.
dont know too much about the north american teams TBH, other then a few rugby household names, they are realtively unknwon, but this maori squad looks really really good, its a pity they didnt schedule at least two tests each against the north americans.
my NZ maoris team from this squad would be,,,
1 nick barret
2 corey flynn
3 ben afeaki
4 jared hoeata
5 joe wheelker
6 blade thompson
7 luke braid
8 eliot dixon
9 piri weepu
10 ihai west
11 zac guilford
12 tim bateman
13 charles ngati
14 andre taylor
15 robbie robinson
16 hika elliot
17 chris eves
18 craig hames
19 luke katene
20 liam squaire
21 jaimson gibson park
22 jackson willonson
23 matt proctor
very storng team, not synergised, but very storng indeed.
look out for ihaia west who has been a standout for the magpies in the 2013 ITM, a super boot with heaps of attacking flair, which is normal for a kiwi i guess, but still great to watch,
good luck to all teams, and go the NZ maoris, :o)

Why is it called the Maori team if it contains non- Maori?Should it not be called the B-team instead.
Maoris were not allowed aloud to tour with the ABS to South Africa a long time ago, and now the Maori team is not welcome because it is chosen on the basis of race. Although if non Maoris are in the team, then it is not chosen on the basis of race?

That's a good side. Last year in Wales we pushed the Maoris pretty well and had a great game against them. I thought the boys were going to pull one out, but came up a bit short.
The Canadian team should consist of names like DTH Van de Merwe(Glasgow Warriors), Jebb Sinclair(London Irish), Phil Mckenzie(Sale Sharks), Taylor Paris(Agen), Jeff Hassler(Ospreys) and Tyler Ardron(Ospreys). I believe Jamie Cudmore is still injured with a broken hand. He would be nice for this game as he's a big body in our tight 5. Aaron Carpenter(Cornish Pirates) will be our Captain.
Sasuke, you may have heard of a guy named Hubert Buydens. He played with Manawatu this season. He should be on the team as well.
Should be a good game!

@sharkbok,
maori tribes related to the players have also been applied in the article above, they all have maori blood in them, just like Bok legend victor matfield.
while the ZN maori team is selected on race, its not in a selection in the derogatory fashion which SA views it in.
SA history though of race selections makes it easy to understand why they would view it in such a way though, but it should be seen as a team which identifies the indigenous people of NZ.
thats why NZ see it as more of an honour thing, while SA see it as a reminder of a dark chapter in SAs history.

@canrugby,
im familiar with van der mewe, sinclair and buyden.
i will never forget when sinclair busted deyel right in the chops and knocked him on his ass during a stormers vs sharks game in the CC (last year i think), he got a card for hsi troubles, but from waht i remember, deyesl was acting like a right twat and deserved to get kapowed, lolz,
i watched manwatus first couple of games in the ITM to watch the progress of buyden when u mentioned him in a post some time before the ITM started.
i was surprised at how tall he was, but he was a very active prop, got around the field and did plenty of work, without compromising his duties as a prop.
a coach couldnt ask for any more really.
i wasnt able to watch too many turbo games after that though, so i kind of lost track of buydens, but i like what i saw initially.
i would guess that buydens learned a lot too, as i suspect that ITM level would be a few steps up from what ever canada has a premier division.
more canada based players should try and play a few seasons in the ITM or currie cup, as it will only help enhance their rugby skills.

Our Coach, Kieran Crowley, tries to get guys over there. Buydens was actually sent over with another Canuck, Ryan Hamilton, to play with the New Plymouth Old Boys. Buyden was lucky enough to get picked up by Manawatu, while Hamilton wasn't and came back to Canada. We also send players over to train with some of your ITM cup teams for 1 or 2 month periods just to improve conditioning, and rugby skills. Kieran Crowley has been excellent at providing our players with this, and using his New Zealand connections.
The ITM cup is a few steps above our best competition in Canada. About a dozen of our national team players play in "The Championship" over in England, and the French D2 in France. We are starting to see more in the Pro12 and Premiership though, which is good. Having guys like Van de Merwe, and Sinclair excel only helps.

@sebastianchabal,
i would be surprised if they televise the games here in OZ, but they are showing them in NZ (which is to be expected) on skysport.
last year i had to download the NZ maori games and suspect the same to happen this time round again.

Seb,
The Maori - Canada game is televised on a Canadian sports channel called T.S.N. If you go to the website, www.tsn.ca , you may be able to stream in a good quality. I don't know if they stream the game though. By the way, the rugby will be very difficult to find on that site, so be patient. We are in the middle of our hockey season right now.
Our fall tour games might be streamed on the Rugby Canada's website. Last year T.S.N picked up our fall tour games, but there is no word so far this year.

Sharkbok the Maori team is the same as the old Maori Battallion ,an elite unit for our people its not like they arent allowed to be in the regular ABs and cant think of anyone who matters moaning about it so your Government is being a bit precious .Are there jobs etc that are identified for Black people only in SA ? They do that here in Oz for good reason [ like in the Health Centre where my missus works if they had only white people no bugger would go there ]
