I apparently missed something here, because I thought he had a pretty ordinary game. Granted only the two SA judges of the 6 gave him the nod, but he won their tie breaker. Here are his stats;

F Coetzee 1/0 5 0/4/12 18 0 3 2 2 8/0 0/0 0 0/0

So we see some nice, but not prolific tackling, with all eight tackles made. Some pretty ordinary running at 1.5 metres a carry, a few offloads, but 2 balls lost on the run.

So where's the beef. I noted several occasions he was in prime position to pull off a turnover without any result. He runs quite cleverly, but has no real power to bust tackles. To me he looks like a perfect nice player without any real horsepower. And while the Cheetahs loosies showed real pace in their sweeping moves, I can't say I saw Marcel out there making open field tackles.

What is this chap other than a busy bee?

Did you not write somewhere about objectivity?   But-but-but-but  - what a joke we have to deal with here.

Actually in saying "apparently I missed something" I thought I was being objective. You by contrast, would never have put the spotlight on this selection....you would have ignored it if it didn't fit your plot.. Totally.

Frankly I never look at the Planet Rugby team -0 so I would not know who is in the team and who not.  You being objective is a joke .

 Coetzee is not too bad in general but he did not have such a good game on Saturday, nê.  I think for the first game in a while for many players it is unfair to judge them on this performance.  But then there are some of the New Zealand players that playe a good game so whats wrong with our guys.

Well I see Planet Rugby didn't mention Coetzee. I maintain he lacks horsepower, and I put into evidence this clip first posted by Bokshark I believe:

You really must be desperate - you gind a stale clip of a year ago to try and support a unproven allegation.    I really think you are so pre-occupied with singular instances in games that you completely forget sbout what a player did the rest of the year.

You must have been desperately unhappy because of the TOW selections - and then you start gunning to dilute the whole thing - really pathetic on the part of a person who claim objectivity.

The TOW selection....lets be clear, he doesn't make the Planet Rugby Team....and for 365 he got 2 out of 6 votes. It's very thin.

As far as Coetzee is concerned I had him along with Etzebeth, Goosen , Kitshoff and Jordaan on my 5 young players to watch last year.  Of those I think only Etzebeth looks a sure success. Goosen is immensely talented, but unproven mentally. Kitshoff looks to have been a mistake. Jordaan had a great s!5 final, but was outplayed by de Jongh in the CC final....he needs to prove his case.

Coetzee looks to me like just below test class....a Jacque Botes level player perhaps.

Mike take note that Hougaard is the bubbling under 9 which confirms the complete crap you spoke about his performance and once again confirms your ignorance

He reminds me of a young Schalk with his energy and commitment. He also in last years S15 displayed some good running skills, where he the odd step came into the picture, showing that he is more than a direct runner.

He is the type of player given his over enthusiasm, will on occasion rush up too quickly on defence, or over commit at a ruck or take a ball too far on his own and get isolated. This will all be tempered with experience.

But he is a young Schalk with better running skills, possibly because he is not as big and is therefore more agile
