South Africa's Malcolm Marx has been named men's 15s player of the year at the World Rugby Awards, becoming the first hooker to win the award since 2001.

The 31-year-old has started 11 of the Springboks' 13 Tests so far this year, scoring five tries.

A truly great player. Congrats to Marx. Well done also to the the very great Du Toit and Ox for being nominated.

This is the most minutes I've seen him play, able to get through so many games too. Just shows you the value of having a player like Marx on the field as long as possible and that the Bongi experiment was a farce to appease the politicians. Marx has been clocking 75 min per game in some instances.

None the less, great achievement. Thought that French Kolbe clone might pick our pockets this time but it was won through hard graft and embodies south Africa this year. Especially the game we saw against Oiland, wasn't pretty but frightening how good that scrum is

He took a bit of a break, but he's back in full force again.

Glad he is finally getting the recognition he deserves.

he will forever be remembered as an all time great…. And he isn’t done yet.

We see a lot of them pop out the woodwork these days.

Caputso from Italy looks like a 12 year old boy.

The game has changed and we see more smaller players getting to play.

It use to be that wingers had to be tall and weigh 100kg plus. I think if we had Duhan 20 years ago it would have helped us. Now is the time the agile and slippery players

Caleb Clarke is proof that there's still room for a big bruising winger these days.
