The following march officials will be involved in the semis this coming Saturday:- Chiefs v Crusaders Date: Saturday 27 July, 2013 Kick-off: 09h35 (SA time) Venue: Waikato Stadium, Hamilton, New Zealand Referee: Steve Walsh (Australia) Assistant referees: Glen Jackson (New Zealand), Chris Pollock (New Zealand) TMO: Glenn Newman (New Zealand) Vodacom Bulls v Brumbies Date: Saturday 27 July, 2013 Kick-off: 17h05 Venue: Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria, South Africa Referee: Craig Joubert (South Africa) Assistant referees: Jaco Peyper (South Africa), Stuart Berry (South Africa) TMO: Shaun Veldsman (South Africa) I am sorry for the Chiefs and Crusaders - they got the worst end of the stick. But more so for the brumbies. They will have to stop their latest scrumming gimmicks - it will land them in serious trouble.

Mike, you should be feeling sorry for the Brumbies because the entire referee's panel is from SA! Craig Joubert is ok but SA linesmen have a history of favouring their home sides with dodgy calls which on their own seem innocuous but cumulatively prove crucial to the outcome.

Moodaa So Jaco Peyper is suddenly partial? What a lot of rubbish. I rate Peyper highly as a referee - he did a very good job in the Crusaders game - did he not? Berry I do not rate highly - he is on par with the incompetent Pollock and just about on par with the rubbish Jackson dished up on Saturday. He is unlikely to be an important factor though. There can be no doubt that the SA referees are way ahead of the New Zealand ones - and that has been proved worldwide - so what is your problem?

The problem I have is that ALL the officials are from SA and a SA team is involved AND it's on home soil to boot.

Sanzar are setting themselves up for a storm if there is a contentious decision that decides the game.

The officials will be under immense pressure from the home crowd for a Bulls win and let's face it, history tells us SA refs buckle at home....Pre-isolation results spring to mind!

moodaa. Lets forget about the past - you say it happened in SA - but it also happened in New Zealand and in other countries as well before 1992. None of the referees were angels - that is why the IRB ultimately had to bring in neutral refereeing in tests. I do not see an uproar about the Bulls - Brumbies game. I rather expect one from the Chiefs - Crusaders game - like happened last year. The reason is that Walsh did not have a particularly good Super 15 - and the performances of both Pollock and Jackson recently were dodgy to say the least. That really is a recipe for disaster - so lets hope things go smoothly in the semis and the best sides win. My money is on the Bulls beating the Brumbies - they will not have a chance with the dodgy scrumming they showed on Saturday - and the Crusaders beating the Chiefs with some ease. I am putting my money where my mouth is in respect of the fantasy team selections. I have on Saturday * 8 Crusader players in my starting line-up in foxsport * 5 Bulls players; * 2 Chiefs players; and * no Brumbies players at all In my Test Rugby squad I will have 7 Crusaders and 5 Bulls players. No players from either the Chiefs or the Brumbies in that case..

If anything, the fact that all the officials in the Bulls game are from South Africa is more cause for them to make a point of being anti -Bulls. Mark my words, this board is going to be full of comments next Monday biatching about our own match officials screwing us over.

if u watch the last brumbies v bulls game, u will know just how much the saffa ref played a role. despite scoring 5 tries to two, brumbies were unable to compete with player of the match marius jonker who penalised the brumbies 11 times to 6 and also denied them a try which had SA commentators scratching their heads saying the brumbies were hard done by.

werent too many comments here regarding how he screwed the brumbies, but then again hard to see flaws in ur own countrymen with one eye, LMAO, :oD

Sasue I assume you are referring to the Bulls - Brumbies game of last year. Cannot recall that one in detail. I am normally objective when it come to refereeing and has been harshly critical of Berry - who is on the panel for Saturday - Jonker is not on the list for that game. I do mind poor refereeing and non-appliance of the rugby laws and would criticize any referee from anywhere in the world - even from Timbukto and Outer Mongolia. Pollock and Jackson was dodgy in their latest games - so they got it in the neck.

yup, the bulls vs brumbies in loftus 2012, and if there was a single saffa here who could recall that game in detail, then it would be the equivilent of the trademark twist in an m night shyamalan film, LMAO, :oP

i just think its hilarious that folks will cry me a river about the kiwi refs and forget to check their own backyard.
if u get the chance to watch the game, i can gurantee u will be shocked, i was disgusted and i was neutral as it gets with those teams at that stage last year.

 Maybe the only referees in SuperXV should be from South Africa. We do produce the best referees, so why not?

Also the IRB should have its headquarters moved to SA, and Paddy O'brien and his crew should be replaced as well;

Would have been nice to get a NH ref for semi in SA... on top of bools in Pretoria.... 4 hometown refs..... Brumbies will have to be clinical to take this one.... which as much as Id like to see probably wont happen. ex-saffa Jake hopefully has a few tricks up his sleeve to un-steady the SA refs but highly improbable.

moolaa sa refs are nowhere near as bent as the nz boys sorry to say.

 

paddy o brien is still in the mix joel jutge is nothing but a front man for the perfect con artist of them mister paddy o brien,.....i agree with reds man lets rather get NH refs in for these kinds of games as a wrong call can really be fatal and the last thing anyone wants to talk  about is the ref...

 

sorry to say expect the brumbies to be under the whip from the start if they dont start well....the bulls will take it by 15
