Matfield on Lood
Who will be the five lock, it always has been Lood. Our line outs seem to function better when he is around. Now we are stuck with Orie.
So after the match against Argentina, Matfield was effusive about how well Orie is playing, one of the best Boks on the day. So Lomp is the best 5 in the world….hahaha….and Orie is a worthy successor, one of the best Boks.
Case closed.
A fit Lood is a must given that the fitness of Snyman is questionable. He takes the field with heavy strapping. Kleyn looks a solid lock to me.
I believe Orie was an enforced quota pick. Orie could make a good number 7.
Pap Victor matfiled was the most delicate "lock" ever to play for the Boks. That said I never thought wee matfiled was anything but a clever guy. He certainly managed to con quite a few people. In some instances that of course in not a difficult task.
Matfiled is on the right track with Lood. He is a fine player.
But ou Mozzzz knows far more about number 5 play!. Be sure not to stick with Mozzzzzzz. Hahahahahaha.
Not sure Orrie would be good at 7, but it is worth a try at club level.
Lood lost his position to Orrie.
Klein is a workhorse that brings mongrel to the pack. If he played at 5, not sure he could me a middle of the lineout jumper.
"Finally he is and the crowd suddenly find merit in this Dud. Dud Toit, Dud Allende, Dud Jager."
All better than Mostert who ain't no slouch either...splinter in the eye stu ff...
We can sit Victor down and go frame by frame over Lood's performances. This is by far the most overrated Bok side of all time.
Clown Pants, where are you when experts say things that you don't agree with? Like Wayne Smith on Lambie, or Deans saying that Spies was our best player, or Jean when he commented on Damian in 2018 when Esterhuizen came on - "We should see some ball getting out wide a bit now", or the coaches who criticized our coaches two years ago? You are very selective in what you listen to. You don't evaluate anything, and as soon as someone says something you don't like, you call them an effing idiot. Well, game after game, and you can never tell me where any of this great play is. Who is the idiot then? Matfield didn't embarrass anyone. What else would he say going into a World Cup year? He also said in 2003 we'd win the WC and had the best team. Motivational speaking. You like to eat of this kind of stuff, hence why you like the snake oil salesman that is Erasputin. Feel good kak with no substance, but has you feeling nice and fuzzy inside.
And when you question Erasmus, are you an arrogant twat too? Or do you know better than the best ever coach, apparently? Saddex, at least try to be consistent. It makes you look a lot less stupid and mentally ill.
Saffex
Perhaps this is a good moment for you to tell us what the pitfalls of appeals to authority are and why it's not an acceptable method of reaching a conclusion.
Anyway, RG and Eben should be our starting locks.
So, you wouldn't start Eben and RG?
Lood,s is not the player his reputation use to be…
There, corrected. If you want to see how great Lood was, rewa tch the Welsh test of 2015 and the NZ test in the WC. Lood never changed, your perception has changed.
We all know Orie is not the best lock in SA. He never steals any balls, gets knock back in the tackle and offer no go forward, limo in the tight exchanges.
Matfield will of course say he is the best given that he is now a TV pundit, they give him a pay cheque and he can't say anything negative or raise questions about certain players.
It has to be all positivity.
I would either move PSDT back to lock. Bring in a genuine seven either like Louw or Jean Luc. Some one that makes a number of tackles, great at busting tackles and can hit the rucks hard
Dan is much better than Jean Luc.
Clown Pants, I don't believe Matfield is being entirely honest. Do you honestly think Matfield is ever going to berate a player? When has he ever done so? Stop thinking an acting like a child. As if Matfield is going to act like a cheap Ruckersforum member !
Lood has never stood tall against any other lock he has ever played against. He'll best be remembered for his hands of stone against Wales and his awful defence against New Zealand. Overrated and useless. He lumbers around struggling to keep up with the game, he is always overpowered by players many times smaller. He is weak, slow, unskilled, slow of mind, lethargic. He isn't merely not the best 5 in the game. He is one of the worst locks we have ever fielded. Orie is better than Lood, quite comfortably. Lood is a very poor man's Muller.
