Here you are Mike von Clever:
Maul 101 by Mallett, for Lügnerin
I was not aware the laws had been officially changed, but I had noticed that lineout drives are now less effective. It used to be SA's best-attacking weapon in SuperRugby and for the Boks.....
I explained this to CleverMike (that Mostert was not responsible for all SuperRugby teams getting fewer tries from the lineout maul).
This law makes sense, as having clearing players in front of the ball carrier is like American Football- and it is offside for all other areas in the game of rugby.
At least I was aware that rolling mails from lineouts are no longer as effective.....
I think they can still be effective. The SH game has watered down the art of the set piece, wandering dangerously close to league - that was Australia's openly declared intention with the ELVs! I see teams use the maul to bind forwards into one location more, then play it back quickly. Sort of becoming more like a scrum in that regard.
Mike's interpretation of events is certainly interesting.
They are effective and has been used extensively by NZ and even Argentina and Australia in games - but has gone out of the window in SA - why?

It is that dastardly Mostert's doing! He has singlehandedly destroyed mauling in SA and not a single coach or player has been wise to it! Only Ou Mike from Ruckersforum has managed to penetrate this deadly deception
No I do not invent things like the three of you did, I observed that something has gone askew insofar as mauls are concerned and I identified some what I believe is the role of Mostert played in the situation.
Mozart assisted by AO and Pakie finds things in matches - change it to what is totally absurd and then states that as factual.
