I am not sure if any of you have been following the saga, but it has finally been confirmed that boxing ace Floyd Mayweather will fight UFC star Conor McGregor in august in a boxing match. Should be awesome! Huge money fight!

McGregor is in a class of his own. I'm sure he'll be up for it.

That is what makes it interesting. McGregor is in a class of his own in mixed martial arts, but this is a boxing match, against a guy that has 49 boxing wins and no losses. McGregor is only 28 though and Mayweather is 40. Mayweather is techincally better, but McGregor has the knockout power. All the pressure is on Mayweather because he is the boxer expected to win, if McGregor loses he'll just say he is not a boxer, but if he wins...Mayweather sucks because he got beaten by a non speacilst. Lots of interesting dynamics, but at the end of the day the odds are 10-1 in Mayweather's favour.

 In a boxing match?
McGregor doesn't stand a chance. He's not even the best boxer in the UFC, which is a closed organisation. Never mind good enough to bea t one of the best there's ever been.
To make it fair they need to allow for takedowns. No group game necessarily, just defence and points scoring through takedowns. That'd even it out some.

Yeah ... it's going to be an interesting clash. I'll be cheering for McGregor. Hope he slam dunks Mayweather.

Probably not ... but a man can hope for an upset.

Yep, same here, I am all for McGregor

This should eclipse the May-Pac PPV numbers

That left of McGregor's is devastating.... he just has to land it, which I am sure he will at some point

Mayweather will run all night, like he usually does, but McGregor will land at some stage

That... is what makes this fight  interesting...

 Indeed. Can't stand Gayweather either.
Never let it be said that an Irishman can't shti talk his way to an $80M payday.
The worst result for McGregor is setting his family up for life. Best result will be legendary status plus the payday. Literally nothing to lose.

...i'm not jealous but Mayweather's already got two Bugatti's ...another big payday looming for both of them... last i heard Mayweather will get north of $100 million to McGregors $75 million depending on how the fight sells...both fighters laughing all the way to the bank regardless of the outcome...as Dana White saying Mayweather struggles against southpaws...and McGregor has only got to connect once..

Some points to keep in mind for McGregor and Mayweather

Pros C - McGregor will be the far bigger fighter of the two on fight night

Pros C - McGregor is fighting at his peak weight, so no draining weight

Pros C - Mayweather battles a lot against Southpaws

Pros C - Mayweather does not have much knockout power these days, too defensive

Pros C - McGregor has nothing at all to lose

Pros C - McGregor wants to make history

Pros C - McGregor can knock anyone at this weight cold, with either hand

Pros C - McGregor is incredibly motivated to shock the world

Pros C - McGregor stalks his opponents all the time, never backs off

Pros C - McGregor's punch accuracy is not matched

Pros C - McGregor can always say he just lost to the best boxer of this generation

Pros C - Mayweather has ALL the pressure on him in the fight to win, not Connor

Pros F - Fighting with 10 ounce gloves, heavier than usual for McGregor

Pros F - Probably the best defensive fighter most people have ever seen

Pros F - His ring experience will definitely assist him with escaping danger

Pros F - Also fighting at a regular weight, so no draining weight

Pros F - Mayweather's footwork in the ring will be a massive advantage

In true McGregor style, he is going to make Floyd very uncomfortable with his verbal sparring, which he is brilliant at.

He gets in your head, no doubt about it

His confidence is more than any other fighter that Floyd has faced

So it's a KO in the 1st round for you.

Sounds too easy if you ask me.

He's not known for his punching power and besides that McGregor has had his chin tested a few times.

Can't see it happening.

No ways Moz

Mayweather is supremely skilled, but not the best ever, as he himself states, as he ducked far too many fighters in their prime.

But he is a tactician of note and deserves all the accolades that he gets, except TBE.

Having said that, I would never right McGregor off either.

One punch can change everything, and if McGregor lands on Mayweather and gets Mayweather hurt, it would be interesting indeed.

When Mayweather felt Maidana's power, he ran away from him all night, I anticipate the same happening here.

Not saying Mayweather won't win, that is almost a given to a betting man, but I am all for McGregor here, as I like this underdog....

Mayweather will walk this in a boxing ring, just as Mcgregor would walk it in the octagon.
Going to be as one sided as when James toney tried his hand at mma.

Too true Deddy

But..... when Tony took on Couture, he was a completely shot fighter, way... way past his best

McGregor is in his prime

Right up there with Ali vs Inoki !Mayweather will down him in the 7th I reckon ,and the Irishman is too clumsy as a boxer to land much on mayweather but as someone else said one lucky punch and its goodnight nurse .

What does McGregor stand to lose....nothing.
What does he stand to gain.....a big pay day and set for life.
Worth a buck or two on the side for McGregor.
