Chiproll

Welcome to the asylumn for dissatisifed rugby supporters.  You will find about one out of 10 frustrated posters (me included) on this site who does think Meyer knows more about rugby than us - the rest think they beat him by the proverbial mile.   Dont take everything you read here entirely seriously - otherwise you really would end up in such a place of safety.

Meantime - Meyer is a good coach - with no idea about player selection.   Playing or having played for the Bulls is a sure ticket for admission to the Springbok squad.   Anyone picking the fat Steenkamp, for instance, must be clueless!!!!!

Have fun and let us have it.

thank you cleremike

yes i can see that i just wanted to let the guys know that yes some guys sould have been in the squad but was over seen by HM. i agree that he does not always select the best but thanks to him we found eben and PDV would not have let him play in the rugby championship and for that i can see he is thinking of the future of the springboks and bringing the best of the young players throw if they have the mental streng to go to the next level in rugby.

im exited for the 10 nov to see the team and see how we play agains the north i think we will do good and see a lot of young guys playing there hearts out for the green and gold.

No, it is shit, it has two average centres in the whole squad, it has washed up hasbeens at prop in CJ and Steenkamp, it has poor excuse for a prop in Cilliers, it has an old man in Franco v/d Merwe as an option at lock, it has proven failure in Morne still on board......should I carry on?

Despite the injuries, Meyer could have selected a far better squad

Chiproll
I agree its not a bad squad, however i do think it could be much better. People tend to completely ignore the fact that players need time to develop, fundamentally they need to progress to a higher level at the game, thats what people do not understand, if we put these players in it could be a major risk, i've seen it happen firsthand it could be relatively too early. In terms of the selection i don't think we need a really great team for this europe tour. People should stop complaining about the selection squad, those players will eventually make it, they just need time.

Welcome to the board Chiproll. We can put in a decent enough side but injuries have effected us as have some odd selections.

Meyer is cautious about using under 21 players as he knows what a huge step up it is in intensity and few can makeit. Etzebeth is an exception that proves the rule. On the other hand he picks Rhule who is a talent but raw and only 19. Maybe he wants to ensure that he will only be available for the Boks in future and not nabbed by the abs etc!!

yes a agree saf cj, steenkamp, cillier and franco sould not be there, but how will you put in there place the guy that is in place are injured and franco i dont know why he is there whe got 4 great locks in sa eden, flip, kruger and bakker yes bakker is injured but he is still a great lock for sa. and morne he is in the squad because of his name. i think lambie goosen and elton is beter than him but goosen is injured. lambie is a utility back so there is 1 fly left and that is elton so to bring morne is not that bad if he as a great game he can win it for the boks. yes he could selected a beter squad but the player that he could have selected is to young next year or the year after then bring them in.

Wrong Chip, Jeandre Kruger is not physical enough for test rugby - he proved that this year. Bakkies is  past it, forget him. We have plenty of young locks coming through in Steph du Toit, Bresler, Quinn Roux, Willemse, JA Marais, Peet Marais, Bulbring, Paul Willemse and Ruan Botha.

Of the older players, Flip and Bekker are quality players.

The art is finding the perfect partner for Etzebeth - my money is on Steph du Toit

The truth is Kruger isn't good enough for big tests.....but he is undoubtedly better than Bresler, QuinnRoux, Willemse, Marais, Bulbring and Ruan Botha. And at this stage way more physical than Steph du Toit who lasted about 30 minutes of being man handled in the S15.

Who said Jantjies is a great fyhalf, you????????? It is a matter of opinion mate, and of all of us you  are probably among the most opinionated on this forum, and whenever someone doesn't agree with you, you are quick to start with name calling. Allow the rest of us an opinion as well.

fair enough comment that meyer is the coach and not us but the last time i checked were in a democratic country where we can voice our views as we see fit.

let me state it clearly these tests will be tough for the boks.
