Instead of waiting to see how we do against the AB's and Aussie's lets start a capaign to get rid of Hyneke Meyer. Maybe we can, through public support, get ED and all the possible connections we can muster between us to let our voice be heard.

  • Hyneke Meyer has totally failed the SA Rugby public for having no developement skills and not bringing new young talent through to the Springboks.
  • Heyneke Meyer has rekindled selection of overseas based players based on reputation which is against every aspect of developement of home grown players. (practiced by most other Rugby nations for a very good reason)
  • Heyneke Meyer has failed SA Rugby and duped the public into believing he had an eye for a new vision of SA Rugby. His teams selections and structures have proven that he has mislead the public.

Before it is too late, please could you add your name to this thread with 'Meyer must go'.

Rugganut You summed it up 100% - but since one would have hoped he learned from his mistakes of last year - and he did not - I am with you all the way.

i dont like meyerss selection policies, but getting rid of him now would be a mistake, i mean in the middle of a RC/4nats??? o_O

timing wise it would be best to wait for after the RC/4nats so that the new coach could begin fresh with the EOYT.

also worth pointing out that despite some questionable selections and tactics, the Boks have won 100% of their games in 2013, i say let the dude finish, the fact hes favoured willie le roux over krichner shows that all is not completely lost IMO.

u never know, Boks could beat the wallabies in brizzy and if they can score one win against the All Blacks not outside the realm of possibility considering its in ellis park, they will be well on the way to their first RC/4nats title and that would be quite an accomplishment.

Ruganutter and ou maaaike arefar GONE.

Lets take ruganutters staement that meyer has not brought in new young talent.

Well how about Coenie, Malherbe, Etzebeth, Marcell Coetzee, Kolisi, JJ, Jan Serfontien, Willie Le Roux, Van Zyl.  I think Du Toit has been in the mix?

What twaddle is this then. Why does ou maaikie agree 100%. Can they give any reason why this is not blind prejudice.

With his three losses to date they claim Meyer is a disaster. Two of the losses and the the two draws would have been wins but for poor goal kicking by the normally very accurate goal kicking of Morne who was selcted for the team of the week leaviing more egg for ou maaaikie to handle.

While all the critics note there have been improvements in the Boks these two want to launch this absurd campaign and if they continue they may find themself in the loonie bin at Falkenburg takig anti delusional medication!

Lets also remember the squeals when Meyer brought back the brillian Louw or the sublime Fourie Du Preez.

What these two cant grasp is that there has been a huge slide in the Rand which is now appeaching R16 to the pound. Fortunes are to be made playng overseas.  Bekker, JP, Fourie Dup Preez, Jaque Fourie all went off to japan where they cannotreally  play for the Boks. All were ceertainites for the Boks. Stuff that they said we have to secure our finacial future wile we can. Ou maaaikie and ruganutter wont be there to help us out when hte lean years come.

But no here once again their prejudice gets the better of them and its all Meyers fault.

Meyer has adull stle of play. Well tell that to the Argies. He selcts exciting runners like JJ, Jan Jean and Willie and there have been more tries scored than before.

There is to date nothing to suggest this man is not incrementally building up the Boks just like he did the Bulle.

I would also like to state that the Pumas put up one huge effort. If they can sustain that they could get a win against Oz or Nz.  Yes the Boks were a bit off key and some issues exist but to go on a get rid of Meyer campaign is totally rediculous. Give the man a fair chance and try and control your emotions when things dont go quite as well as hoped.

I recall ou maaaikie going pop when Meyer with no preparation time re hisfirst tests against Engaand chose a large number of bulle. The side that started against the Pumas had 4. So how about an apology re that one ou maaikie. Meyer is NOT bulle player biased - end of that one. He has chosen plenty of young payers - end of that one. The Boks game is evolving - end of that one.

Ruganutter and ou maaikie going going GONE

Beeno1 has some logic.  Ragga, some dogs bark at shadows I suspect you do too.

Meyer may not be that lucky so far but if you do get rid of him, pray tell who do you replace him with.  Who in SA has a proven record and is clearly detined to be a success?  Nope, Jake the snake has sold his birthright and his comments in his book and after would make SARU think twice and then again.  Mallet?  LOL yeah right another bite at the cherry, another Teighmann / Stinkstad swop?

Hou op kak praat en ondersteun die man.  Support the team and see what happens.

The SA politics and the SA rand are the main causes for our players running to Europe and Japan.  Are the young guns ready and better than the experienced players?  Is there really a replacement for Habana?  Is there a local young scrummy better than FdP.  Tos man!  Why does the best trainer always hide behind a cyber facade?  If any of these posters are so good, please do us all a favour and report to SARU, maybe you could do better.

mike and ruggernut i could not agree more..........his if i am confused when my opposing teams must then also been confused approach belongs to the history books. if might have had a place in the 1960's but are out of place in a modern quick evolving enviroment where the new elvs promote dynamic up tempo running rugby.

His carless selections of tourist louw, who ate all the pies steenkamp and stop stop eks n skietkop pienaar above much more talentend local based players has not only set the trend for our local stars to seek there fortunes overseas but as also set in motion a chain of events that i am not sure we will recover from very quickly. in terms of his game pattern its as extinct as the dodo. zero imagination. a prehistoric game plan based on gainlin dominance alone is easy to defend and even easier to develop counter measures for. will the likes of AB and wallies have sleepless nights playing against the boks with this type of approach no.

his selection of support staff like the sleepwalker van graan that seems more at home in a mcdonalds drive thru than a "attack coach" just once again shows and explains to me the state of mind that meyer has. not one team int he world has a forwards coach as there attacking coach......old beeno can try and jungle jive the topic as much as he can but there is no way someone can try to con me into logically thinking that this game pattern is a world cup winning one.

old ruganutter and mike are not gone gone old beeno but lets us rather smoke whatever your having as it seems your totally on another level than the rest of us i am quite sure it must be some of the grass that is growing on he fairway at the 18th at your local clubhouse.

sorry beeno i am not sold.

@sas i agree if the RC4 is a bust then meyer should het his marching orders. so that the new coach can start to build for the EOYT

Getting rid of Meyer now makes no sense.

Fred  agree with your sentiments apart from Mallet. Listening to Mallert he comes accross as avery astute coach. He hits the nail on the head time and again. I hink he would make a fine Bok coach as I also believe he has matured as a person.

Our best coaches are Rassie, Jake, Mallet and Venter. None of whom are actually coaching a side. Go figure.

Here is SA the rot starts at the top. As Liz McGregr pointed out we have the wrong structures in place - 14 unions all with the same voting power. No central contracting,  The best coaches are not in place although I have respect for Naka and Ackermann is, surpringly to me, earning his spurs.

Then there are things more difficult  to combat. Quotas and foreign exchange issues Oz and nz dont beging to have.

We battle on with one hand tied behind our backs.  Nevertheless if we can just keep our players, negotiate bent nz refs, we look to be in a position to regain our traditional number 1 spot by 2014.

yes the rot is at the top as well witht he unions haviing to much say in regards to players ext but nobody is addressing the issues. having the current selection policy of overseas based players just adds to that rot.

on the issue of mallet he is good coach but in terms of his management style he will nobody can devide a dressing room quicker than mallet and everyone int he rugby inner circles knows this. he personallity is bigger than the game and you cant have that kind of attitudes in a dressing room sorry to say. if he was just left to coach alone and allow the management to someone else then maybe he might be worth his weight in gold. but mallet is just great for TV and nothing else sadly.

naka and ackermann is doing a amazing job with the little they have to work with but needs more time to extend there skills. the whole management system of SA rugby players is a massive worry but meyers anticis and tactics is just addiing fuel to the fire as much as it hurts saying this.

Liz is an astute person with a good grasp for the bigger picture - the book "Touch Pause..." is worth every cent..

Funny that Ackermann ('n Polisieman) is doing wonders with his team.  Beeno1, Meyer might be in a bit of a Hitler situation, his generals are going to sink him.. The support staff may just be a bigger reason as was mentioned somewhere here..

Beeno1 - Mallett is a big mouth sitting on the sideline.  He too made some rather funny selections and his game plan was as flawed as Harry Viljoen's - Rassie I am afrai is another in the Harry Viljoen mould.

Saturday’s match was an embarrassment … just as the match against the Scots was an embarrassment ... just not acceptable.

Why wait?

He said he was far better prepared this time round … yeah right .... why are we constantly having to go back to the drawing board ... ???

He said that the break down was what we were supposedly going to target … oh really, then how come we're been taught a lesson by 2nd rate teams like the Scots and the Pumas at the break down ??? ....

He said that he intended to blood a lot of youngsters during the Italy, Scotland and Samoan visit …hmmm is that a fact ... so what happend to that, huh???  ... how come all these old timers are been drawn back from semi retirement ... ??? Victor would also be in the mix if you had your way.

Mr Meyer ... do you have any idea what your doing ... any idea at all ... ??? ... cause from whetre I'm sitting, your worse than Pieter De Villiers and he was clueless at the best of times.

Sorry … the sooner we get rid of this bulls coach the better. He’s unfortunately not suited to test rugby.

Oh and by the way rugganut ... you most certainly are an ugly fucker ... maybe it be best you change that profile pic ... soon as possible ... thanking you in anticipation.

Kalaed, nowhere in any post have i said i could to better. What i am saying is that we have far better than what we have now. This is a pivotal job in South Africa and the job discription is not being carried out as i have pointed out in my initial post.

Should we play the same players as last week we will get munched. This team is not a side that can win us the next World Cup. Meyer is the one whom decides on selections and it is sole responsiblity to develop the pool of talent as his disposal into the once unbeatable mighty Springboks.

As not only i have pointed out that there are some here, me included, who do not think he will ever achieve such greatness and he has no chance of even remotely devlivering the World Cup.

So stop the rot now and move on. Note i have clearly not entered the debate of who should succeed him as that is another topic altogether.

@ CleanOutjie.  You do have a point but the players are the ones on the field running like headless chickens and failing at the most basic of handling skills.  Like their coach, they were plain kak.

Rugga, You may not have said that but the emotion charged post implies that you could do a better jobby.  sit back and relax a bietjie bro.   Everything points at him not having control of the situation but eish, you cannot chase away a 60% guy and replace him with a ?% guy.  I think a foreign coach will not work in SA so it will have to be from inside and that is a problem because not one has shown himself to be better.  Daais die problem my ou.

Kalaed- Great post above. I like your use of 'headless chickens, failing at the most basic handling skills, everything points to him not having control of the situation'.

That is exactly why he must go. You forgot about developing new talent, of which we have a lot. As cleancut also pointed out we had the promise of blooding the youngsters in the earlier tests which he failed to do.

Fred you are hopelesly wrong about Rassie. Bok players have described him as the finest rugby brain they have encountered. He has won two of the 3 Currie cup wins ever achieved by the Cheetahs. He took the Stormers out of the doldrums and was wanted by Jake as a technical assistant. The guy was fantastic for us but left like Mallet did because of the rampant nonsense at WP.

Meyer must stay and continue to build the Boks as he is doing. Man even saSUE  has a more sensible approach!

rassie is one of the greatest techical rugby minds in south africa but does not like being at the forefront so being in the limelight as the bok coach will not fit him at all.

meyer is not building anything beeno as he is obsessed with short term success. hasbeens like louw and steenkamp is not building anything except there overbloated bank accounts.

as i said last year this RC will be the acid test for meyer and all his cronys......if we fail like we did last year expect the knives to come out and i know we need to bleed in the short term but its our best chance to win the RWC with meyer out of the picture.

Exactly my point, KaalGat.

Wrong selections and the lack of proper coaching.

Talk is cheap.

You need to select the right boys for the job and then coach them properly ...

All I hear is talk, talk, talk ... how long before we see friggin action ... ???

We now also have to prepare without our overseas players ... who'll arrive late for the tour down under. He's also happy to use a scrummie who's only available for our home leg ... WTF ???

How can thIs coach say he's better prepared than last year? Has he even spent a minute in thought over any of this??

Doesn't look like it to me. It's more like he's winging it as he goes along.

I'll be surprised if the Wallabies don't demolish us next week.

Freddie Just one issue in fact. Hansen - the All Black coach - was in fact also a Policeman before he started his coaching career. I think that Meyer's support staff and the SARU Executive may be his downfall as well. Problem is they are not the ones to take responsibility - Meyer is. .

Cleancut Meyer may know in theory what is the correct requirement - but he does not know - and no amount of extra consultancy - how to fix problems. The main reason is it is not fixable by the players he select to do the job. They do not contribute to ball recovery from breakdowns - and then he Is surprised about it. That is my one problem with Meyer. The other one is what game plan is in place. When Hougaard and Steyn had problems last year - Meyer said that he would fix up their KICKING game through coaching. Nothing about the rest of their game. When they queried Meyer before the end of the CC season why he did not utilize Lambie as a flyhalf - he said he was not satisfied with his KICKING game. Why only the KICKING Game - what about the rest of the performance. In other words if the kicking game is acceptable the rest of the players performance can suck - and he is still acceptable. I think Meyer is stuck in the frame of the Bulls team plays of a decade ago - he cannot see why that would fail in the present playing environment. What was good for the Bulls in 2004 - is goo for the Springboks in 2013. That kind of approach is not being conservative - it is frankly going backwards. Concservative means to try and maintain the staus quo - not going backwards by leaps and bounds. Now lets look at all the talk of beeno about bringing in New players. In 2012 Meyer brought in Etzebeth and Coetzee. The latter fell out of favour and is now still in the squad - but rarely ultilized. He also used Engelbrecht from the bench for 10 minutes in 2012. No other new faces in the Springbok squad. In 2013 he brought in Serfontein, Arno Botha and Le Roux. So we got an average of 12% new faces per year added to the squad. All the latter three came in because of injuries to Meyer's favourite players (Francois Steyn,Kirchner and Spies). Without the injuries they did not have a snowballs hope in hell of getting into the team. I say this looking at the composition of the first training squad this year. Hougaard made way for Vermaak and Van Zyl - two new faces used only for stand in purposes. In the squad - but not really utilized. In the meantime Meyer kept faith with virtually all the under-performing more senior players - and what is worse he persisted with them because he flatly refuse to see where they fail. It was normally the Senior Players that failed in Super 15 last year - much more so than the new players. Problem is that Meyer virtually used the whole Bulls team last year as squad members and even as starting players and bench players. That while most of them are not test quality players. He can indeed be regarded as a revolving door for Bulls players to be utilized. Another interesting question is - what is he going to announce tomorrow as the new squad to represent SA in the upcoming two tests. Knowing Meyer's selection criteria - there is no way that it will be an improvement on the squad that was sent to Mendoza. The useless ones - like snail-paced Alberts, gruntless Kruger, and gutful Steenkamp are likely to remain in the squad. Meyer obviously does not regard performances as a criterium - his real norm is how he can see them in the game plan of his.

I will wait till the end of year tour and see what happens in the Championship. The only time the boks really dominated and played well consistently was when Mallett won 17 test matches on the trot, I also think both Divvy and White had one good year each but other than that SA have always performed well 1 year in 4.

Don't really agree with his selections and I think that he would be mad to keep Selecting the french based players. I think some of his foreing players have been dissapointing thus far. I would reduce foreing players drastically and actually not tour with them to New Zealand.

We need to find quality wingers in the absence of JP and Habana, back Lambie at 10 and gamble with Jantjies as back up flyhalf. Bring in Van Zyl at 9 and start with him and put Reinach on the bench.

We need to find some locking partners for Estebeth and we can no longer rely on Kruger and Flip Flop. Bring in Elstadt, can cover both 7 and 4. Might have to consider using van der Merwe for the short term as 5 cover, but start looking at Lood and Pieter Steph when fit.

I would back local players for the Aus tour and just keep the dodgy foreigners out

spot on mike and kingcorn spot on......the thing that really get everyone is the mentality and the public comments that meyer maks that shows the type of mindset that he has. when one journo asked meyer about out backline player he also made a snotty remark about our backline players not being world class but has anyone gone out and tried to fix the problem ? no.....instead of meyer getting in a backline specialist to help solve this issue he bleats about it and trys to con everyone into seeing his way. thus validating he point of view. his methods are outdated and be has not adapted to the new elvs at all. much like coetzee meyer has his own preconveived ideas of how SA rugby is and the rest of us that are looking from the outside in are totally surprised by his lack of vision. but it not just meyer but the whole structure is warped.

we are buggered and i see meyer getting canned hopefully before the EOYT
