Meyer Response to dropping Goosen

 
This fool of a coach had much to say in the beginning about the useless Goosen. He was a brilliant ... an incredible ... an awesome player ... etc.

It took him awhile to discover that this was not so.

To suddenly do a 180 would expose him as the fool he is ... he's now found an excuse, an open door so to speak, to dismiss the chump and keep face.

Same goes for JJ. Suddenly this "brilliant" player isn't good enough any more.

Well it is good to see Meyer finally wielding the axe on underperforming players, just wish he did with some of the old guys.
I don't think that we need Victor or Steyn. Lewis was the best line out lock by a country mile in super rugby and he performed extrmely well. Neither do we need bakkies who can only last about 20 min. 
So you end up with 2 locks that can only play for about 40 min where as you have young mobile locks and that are far better. Then you have fat Alberts that never seem to do any good ball carries where as you have Potgieter who has finally learned how to draw a man and pass and run into space. 
My lock options would be
4 Etzebeth5 Lewis
Res 1 - De Jager

I would keep Bakkies and Matfield in the Squad as backup but give the youngsters as much game time as possible. Only 15 test left until the world cup. Then we have Pieter Steph De Doit still recovering. So we are looking really good. 
Come to think about it, my starting pack for the championship would be
1. Beast 2. Bismark - Res, Strauss3. Jannie (By a whisker, no decent tightheads)4. Etzebeth - Reserve, De Jager5. Lewis 6. Coetzee7. Potgieter8. Vemeulen 

 Meyer also said that he believes Goosen to be one of the best players to have trained under him.

Cleancut, he is no more foolish than the rest of South Africa who backed Goosen even though he blew our 2012 All Black tests! Thank god that he at least sees the light now because so many still want lambie and/or goosen to take us to the world cup.

Kingcorn, which steyn do you mean? both are actually really good players. frans carried the sharks all season and morne is still (unless pollard does the business this year) the best flyhalf in the country. in fact since 2009 he has never not been the best in the position.

you are way wrong about victor, he totally outshone all our other locks. when he played for the boks our lineouts and kickoffs were much more stable... the best since 2011 in fact! Our best locks are Flip, Victor, Lood and Bakkies. Eben is a squad inclusion for sure but he hasnt been as good as everyone likes to believe. And lewis was bettered whenever it mattered most, not a good test candidate at all.

Now to the loosies. look, im not the biggest fan of louw but the guy has a really strong partnership with duane and its gone a long way to giving us the best breakdown stats last season... one of only three seasons since 1996 that've we've actually dominated the breakdown in the tri-nations/rugby champ. so why fix what isnt broken? what does coetzee offer that is going to better that? nothing in my opinion because he prospers in a setup where he targets certain phases. he isnt the freakish specimen that brussow is. And potgieter? why change one basher for another? I would rather have schalk (again not a big fan of the guy) because he is a better defender than pot or alberts and has far better hands. he is a really good link player and a more sturdy carrier. in fact I would put schalk, juan, and deysel ahead of pot.

staruss ahead of bismarck is a must. bissie is a super sub kind of player. his strength is the only thing he brings to the table and that will have a much better impact off the bench when the opposition is tired. his carries are too upright and he loses too much ball and doesnt compete in big games. discipline is always another issue. he could have been carded in four more gmes last year so he got lucky. blew our rugby championship with stupidity in the away all black test and in the big grudge match at ellis park he was invisible for the entire time he was on the pitch.

 
So ... first it's Buggered ... then it's Tzu Sun or some stupid name ... and now it Gonzo??

You really have weird ideas about rugby - and that is a fact.   You swoon over Morne Steyn and lied about Goosen losing the AB tests.   Morne was dropped by Meyer - because he was so piss-poor in 2012 and he was the one who cost us the Dunedin test with his string of missed conversion attempts and his bullshit kicking game.   Morne cost us the Dunedin, Eden Park and Ellis Park tests - and that is a fact.  Morne the best flyhalf in SA?  That really is a stupid statement to make.  He is not even the ebst flkyhalf on contract with Stade Francais - ie on club level - but he is the best in SA.  What a silly and sick joke.  
Francois Steyn did not carry the Sharks all season - he was generally under-performing in both attack and defense with the worst performance record of all centers in SA.   He was accurate in his goal kicking and that amounts to about all - Hell - the man was useless is all aspects of play.
Etzebeth - what a joke.  To compare Slapgat and Bakkies with him. De Jager, Du Toit and even the misbehaving Flippie - is  really a poor reflction on rugby thinking.  Slapgat and Bakkies are way past their best and the fact that they are still around is stupid.

Where did you learn the basics about rugby - must have been while sitting in a lavatory - because you failed in every aspect of the game.  
     

 I lied? Goosen left a wide open gap that let Smith through, then he let nonu setup a swarming attack for another try by not being able to tackle. There you have it. the scores were 8-8 when morne left the field. Goosen cost us that test. Then the ellis park test, he was involved in all new zealands breakouts by the time jantjies got onto the field new zealand already had a massive lead. so you call me a liar, but only prove YOU are the liar, but not for the first time.

Morne cost us the ellis park test? he was the only good defender in the backs, he was easily the best bok on the day because he did the least damage to our chances. two try saving tackles and cleaned up after Eben, Jannie, Duane, Jean and Habana who all missed crucial tackles. he made a 100% of his own tackles to boot and was good on attack.

Heres the thing mikey, im not specifically a fan of morne. in fact i am really looking forward to seeing pollard do well and i hope he takes the reigns overall. but i dont like liars who twist facts to portray something that isnt real. yeah, had orne kicked better in dunedin we would have had a better lead, but at 8-8 goosen came on and was a key culrprit in two new zealand tries and did nothing throughout that game. so how the hell can you say morne cost us that test? you are rediculous mike.
