 OK, 77 played tests under Meyer, from those, only 53 played more than 3 Matches and 33 in 10 or more(7 of which started in less than 5)From the RWC squad, 7 had less than 10 matches, with Paige getting a free ride to the RWC with no matches played at all!!!!
Might have made a mistake here and there, but then it's an honest mistake.
This is not how you prepare for a RWC, I'm very sorry. Absolutely baffled by this. Very poor planning.

Yep that is just how crap Meyer is....and all along he just wanted a bunch of old farts to work with. Had Fourie, Bakkies and Smith been available they to would have made his WC squad.

 Most important position in a rugby team (to some anyway) How many TH other than Jannie started in the last 4 years? And for how many tests? 
Building a squad? Joke. I never knew exactly how bad it actually was till I checked the stats. And Hoskins and Co. looked on and did diddly squat!
I know FH is the pivot and obviously the other important position, don't get me started there either!

Yep...the man is poor when it comes to identifying players as he is hell bent on investing in the old players he knows. Hell he selected Willie by default and looks to have lost faith with him already given the Kirchner selection.
Not to mention discarding Lood and de Allende after a handful of tests only to have them return  through sheer weight of performance and injuries to his old farts.
How on earth as a coach do you miss out on Kitshoff for instance. Imagine investing in old man Steenkamp followed by nobody Heinke v/d Merwe ahead of Kitshoff in the past 18 months?
The list is endless  

 My point is kind of obvious to me, but if you can't see it. In short, we are short on experienced players because very little was done to develop the squad.

 Draad 
The factual position was that Meyer in 2012 decided whom he wanted in the squad for 2015 RWC.   He then had to convince some of the players who previously declared themselves out of future Springbok selection to return to play international rugby. 
So what happened in this case.   His first move was to get back Steenkamp and Heinke van der Merwe as props in 2012,   Both of those failed in 2012 already - but that did not deter Meyer.   He obviously followed that up with all of Bakkies, Matfield, Du Preez, Fourie, Smith and Pienaar.   
Of the above -
*   Bakkies was dead average in all tests played - but to Meyer's dismay he decided to quit international rugby because he himself felt that he was not up to standard anymore;
*    Matfield was raised to being the best lock who ever played rugby in the world - but the bubble burst badly, because in all matches played he was inadequate as a lock and so the myth was created that his line-out prowess was still the same as it was years ago - which it never was in the last two years on Super 15 level and in tests.   Matfield's poor to non-existent contribution to the Tight 5 play was totally ignored.   Since his return to  international rugby our Tight 5 competitiveness vanished into thin air and we start to lose more and more matches.   
*   Du Preez was not as bad as the other players - but since 2012 was more on the injury list than he played rugby - both for his Japanese club and for the Springboks.  Sine June 2014 he played in 5 matches for his club (January - February 2015) and for the rest zero rugby.   He came on in the place of the dismal Pienaar on Saturday and looked so much better than the dismal Pienaar - everyone thought that he was wonderful, but was he really a tower of light.  I m afraid there was no proof of that yet.
*   Fourie played in three tests in 2013 - when in his first test against Wales Davies ran around him like he was not there, but fortunately for him Davies was injured early and Fourie's defense for the three tests were solid.  His pace was poor and he made all of 13 meters carrying the ball 8 times - so his attacking play was non-existent.  In 2014 Fourie was injured and could not play in tests and at the start of 2015 declared he was not going to play international rugby in future.  Despite that Meyer pleaded with him to reverse that decision and called him up to the Springboks training camp in June 2015.  He arrived at that camp in such poor physical condition that even Meyer had to give up on that one and send him packing to Japan.
*    Smith was invited to play in one test (against Argentina) - but was so dismally poor even meyer had to give up on that one.
*    Pienaar was a dismal failure in most matches played and as a ht older goy worse and worse to the level where he was on Saturday.
Aside from that from existing players in 2012 - like Frans Steyn and Willem Alberts - was kept in Meyer's squad.  Fransie was not in good form in the tests and dismal in Super 15 ever since.  He would still have been in the squad if he did not throw a tantrum in June last year and walked out of the squad at the very last moment and if he was not injured in May and not recovered yet from injury.   Alberts was dismal in all Super 15 and test matches played since 2013 - and the main reason for his retention was to take care of the non-existent contribution made by Matfield to Tight 5 play.   A functional loosie Alberts never was.  
Be it as it may - Meyer decided  in 2012 who would be in his 2015 Wold Cup squad and that was around 20 of the 31 players to be selected.  The wheels came off some players due to injury and the retirement  of some players - so we were back to 15 of the squad members at present in the squad.  
That meant that iro of that 15  performance counted for zero in considering their candidacy.   They could bugger up as much as they like and they would still be in.  If they did not play any or even a few matches since June 2014 that counted for nothing at all - they would still be included i9n the 2015 WC squad.
Meyer started off in 2012 with a need to fill circa 11 to 12 vacancies in the WC squad for 2015  and his selections to fill those vacancies became a lottery ticket.   Due to injuries this number grew to 16 this year.   As pointed out by you of those 16 - 7 had less than 10 caps.   Most of those caps were earned coming from the bench.   
In essence - Meyer had no interest whatsoever to build up a squad for the 2015 WC and that was clear from the start of his Springbok coaching career.  He would get to the WC year and then decide on the few new players needed.  The only players he actually gave substantial playing time were Etzebeth, Marcel Coetzee (the latter not included in the squad a result of injury) and Willie le Roux.  For the rest selection was a turnstile.
What was a serious joke was the fact that on Saturday 10 of the starting line-up of the Springboks were in the failed 2011 WC campaign.   That campaign was poor - beating Wales by one point and Samoa by 6 points in the pool stages - and the main excuse given for the loss in the quarters was Bryce Lawrence - not the dismal performance of the teams in the pool matches listed.   
Looking at the above - it is clear that a loss on Saturday was quite possible and in a way inevitable.    Even a site member like Pakie gave up on Meyer as a coach - but some of the others (like Mozart, Desert Disaster and the now-absent Ceradunce) remain loyal to him through thick and thin and swear that the old players are not to blame for a shocking performance on Saturday.    They were and there is no excuse fr their dismal performances.
