The current Investec Super Rugby Champions, the Chiefs have confirmed their pre-season programme which includes the following:
Chiefs v Reds, Saturday 8th February 6pm (Aus time) - Toowoomba Sports Ground
Chiefs v Blues, 14 February 2013, 6pm (NZ time) - Rotorua International Stadium.
The Chiefs had been working on a match against the French club Toulon, however this will not take place this season. Both parties put extensive work into playing the match, but were not able to get the required approvals from their national bodies.
Other factors contributed to the decision not to proceed with the match, which included injury, unavailability of players and travel considerations.
Chiefs CEO Andrew Flexman said "The Toulon match was always contingent on us being able to take a full strength squad, however due to our circumstances, this has changed, so now we will put our focus on our existing pre-season campaign and an important season ahead. We have not ruled out playing matches off-shore in the future."
Chiefs’ fans have been quick to show their support for the back-to-back champions with over 2500 memberships already sold for the 2014 season. Season memberships are proving to be popular Christmas gifts and are on sale now, starting from as little as $75, with a special offer to pay half now and half in February if purchased by 20 December.
The Chiefs will hold a season membership event at Ruakura this Saturday from 10-12pm. Fans are welcome to come to the event and purchase their season membership to gain access to the exclusive member’s only day.
